    Peter Watts? I dunno.

I read snippets from his Crysis novelization and it was bad.
Do you have a link to those excerpts so I can read them?

I've always liked his books. Have you read Blindsight or the Rifters Trilogy? They're pretty good, in my opinion. He's a marine biologist, so his attention to technical detail is staggering. He typically includes a glossary and notes at the end of his books to explain the real-world applications of theories presented in the books. You'll also find some good material on his website. (Nevermind the layout and bad imagery. The content is good, I swear. )

I think... I'll probably be grabbing Flashpoint when it comes out, simply to see what happens immediately after Kerrigan's de-infestation. My hopes aren't high, though.

Review from Blizzplanet. Course it's kind of obliged to promote the novel, but might be worth a read if you're interested.

"Valerian brought 25 battlecruisers to planet Char. Only fourteen survived the Zerg."

So the total Dominion fleet is a grand total of 50 battlecruisers? Somewhat funny considering there were almost 100 in one of the cinematics in Brood War on screen at once. Considering how often we see them destroyed and how expendable they are in the novels/manga/comics, it seems ridiculous to say the least.

And the Bucephalus is a Gorgon-class Battlecruiser? I thought it was a Minotaur-class Battlecruiser. The class name fits though, Gorgon, Minotaur, Leviathan, Behemoth. It's a little thing but I like it.

I have the novel itself but only read a few bits here and there. Not sure if there are excerpts online.

"TcheQuevara, you wasted half your salary on X already!"

That's how my father talks to me when I spend, like, almost nothing in anything. I'm married btw.

Still I agree 25 doesn't make sense. We see at least 2 battlecruisers being shot down in the Char missions don't we? A battlecruiser really doesn't sound that powerful from the times we saw them in fiction. How could 25 of them fight Kerrigan in Char and have any degree of success...?

Well, the navy of the USA has multiple fleets, so perhaps Valerian acquired half of the Korhal Defense Fleet, or half of their primary expedition fleet?

Also, a WoL cutscene stated that the Bucephelus was a Minotaur class specifically. I wonder if they retconned that, or if Christie just threw that one in there without proper research?

Makes me wonder how involved Blizzard reps are in the making of their books, or if they give their authors an encyclopedia of facts for reference?

I had to do a quick check on the ending cinematic for Starcraft 2, and sure enough, there are about 25 battlecruisers in the sky when the camera pans up. Hard to make out the exact number because I just used a youtube flick, and they're so far away that they're quite tiny.

In any case, this is after the war is basically over... and we've seen countless battlecruisers fall to the ground during the fighting, so it doesn't add up.

Well well well, it seems that now Wings of Liberty gets to feel the wrath of the retcon hammer. It was about time. :P

    I don't think it did:

I can't actually find the original source which said bucephalus was a minotaur. But you guys know what this means right? We've seen three classes of battlecruiser in SC2, behemoth, minotaur, and gorgon, and they all use the same exact model.

Wow I suck. I could have sworn it was on there! Thanks for the clarification, Grad!

I recall that in the Xel'Naga worldship mission Valerian says something like "With these new Minotaur-class Battlecruisers, you can bla bla bla" or something. It might be people just jumped to the conclusion that Valerian's ship was a Minotaur-class too. Not that strange considering his ship looks like all the others...

I wouldn't be too worked up about battlecruisers looking the same. It's been that case ever since the Hyperion.

50 battlecruisers in the Dominion fleet? Hmm...I guess it's reasonable in itself given rebuilding times post-BW, industrial capacity and the reliance on some older models. Kinda systemic of the whole "terrans are actually weak cause people said the Dominion was too strong," but meh, I can roll with it.
