Thread: SCII Flashpoint novel

I'm with DY here. "Shush honey" is an...iffy line, but I think it's handled well, both in terms of Kerrigan's personality/guilt and Raynor's persona/reservations. I'm generally optimistic for it - Golden isn't that good at writing romance, but she's definately got better at it if Tides of War is any indication, not to mention that she writes for established characters well.

The Christie Golden I know from Firstborn and Shadow Hunters isn't Tolstoi but she builds characters that have feelings and make sense. That's not what I see in this preview. Of course, it is a preview and possibly was written before the book was even finished...

But come on, they made her write 2 books at once! (Poor Christie :P) The qualityis expected to drop...

Hey guys, answer me something, can I read Kindle books in a PC?

I assume they've probably got contractual obligations to go with Christie. But given that this may be a Zerg-centric novel, I would have preferred if someone like Peter Watts wrote this. He's an established scifi writer with skill. Check out his shortstory based on Carpenter's The Thing. He has a killer dark sense of humor, and already has experience writing for video games. I would love to see his take on StarCraft. =D
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

    Peter Watts? I dunno.

I read snippets from his Crysis novelization and it was bad. It read like self-insert fan fiction, and not a very good one at that. I admire his attention to technical detail and general grasp of what the science in science fiction is supposed to mean, though. More authors could really use some of that and not just resort to the old "well science fiction is like fantasy but in space" which so many seem to adhere to.

EDIT: Oh, hey, while I remember. What the hell happened to the novel already being released? There was a page on the Starcraft 2 website not long ago that said the novel was released and you could buy it Amazon. I promptly placed an order... but the stocks are still empty, and from what I can tell they never had any novels either. Then when you browse all other sites it just says the book is not available yet, but will be on November 6th, the original release date, and the page that said the novel had been released is mysteriously gone.

I'm awaiting November 6th for an entirely different reason.

Yes, but you need to wrestle with the software, including getting an account.

    MINOR SPOILERS

Read the excerpt. Quite good overall IMO - certainly seems Golden's got better at writing action scenes. Not sure about Tychus's body being left behind though - seems to suggest he could be infested or something, which I hope doesn't happen.

I also liked the excerpt! Golden really got much better at action scenes. I recommend it for everyone. Now I'm even more sure I'm going to buy the book.

    MAJOR SPOILER.

This is almost definitively going to happen. Tychus' voice actor Neil Kaplan said Tychus "may or may not come back" in this interview.
