They used the "No cliff-hanger" argument back when they announced the trilogy.

To resume: Every campaign has a "you win" ending, but now there are additional elements beyond the 3 races. In SC1, the destruction of the Overmind was the big ending. Now, it's surely going to be about the Xel'Naga cycle.Originally Posted by Andrew Chambers
