Check my post I just made
Also I'm serious when I say check out the D3 panels from Blizzcon 09, I think you will be surprised.. They talked about not even having started work on the bosses yet, or even remotely started on Battle.net integration.
And from how long Bnet has stopped SC2 I would say it's going to be at least half a year for them to do just that.
Sonic: [dressed as a cop] Let me speak to the driver.
Grounder: I'm not driving. He is!
Scratch: No I'm not.
Sonic: Driving without a driver? Now you're really in for it.
Sonic: You know? I sure have fun.

Well, I changed my post above, but I dont think Bnet is going to really take much from a d3 perspective. I think that the majority of the features added for sc2 will need some very minor tweaks to give it a d3 feel, and wont need to deal with match making or smurfing, etc.

Ah you bring up a good point, I guess they are building it from the ground up for SC2.
I wouldn't say that the cash cow gets all the attention, D3 is a whole game, and Cataclysm is just an expansion, and they have been working on it since before WotLK. although they have been working on D3 for a while, SC2 has been under work for a little longer and it's not out yet either.
But I feel your pain, I liked D2 I thought it was pretty good, although I wasn't looking too forward to D3, after playing it however I can't wait for the game to be released... >_<

That doesnt mean 2.0 needs to be remade from the ground up right? Of course there are a lot of things that wont relate to sc2, however, if you think of it from a programmers perspective... its a matter of changing what the buttons look like, and what the buttons do, not how the overall engine works?
Its more like a change of what the body of car looks like and giving it a few different features to fit what you want to come out of it, but for the most part leaving the original design alone.

I never said that it would.
There will be far more changes than just what the buttons look like.Of course there are a lot of things that wont relate to sc2, however, if you think of it from a programmers perspective... its a matter of changing what the buttons look like, and what the buttons do, not how the overall engine works?
A better analogy would be putting an engine you already have in a totally new car. You still need to build that car from scratch, but you already have the technology to power it.Its more like a change of what the body of car looks like and giving it a few different features to fit what you want to come out of it, but for the most part leaving the original design alone.
