How to be a true starcraft fan

If Thoust seeketh to be a true fan one must only follow these rules

1.) assume that because a lot of random guys on the internet are attacking the story than that must be the majority and that everyone hated it, even though there are many reviews that either don't mention the story or praise it. Those who state defense must be fanboys, even if they provide evidence you must shun them.

2.) assume that everything must be explained and addressed in the first installment rather than later in the plot; those who argue otherwise must obviously be trolls.

3.) assume that Raynor must have taken his vow seriously; those who say that it could just as easily have been in the heat of anger is obviously a liar and an imbecile.

4.) state that the Dark Voice was entirely obtrusive; if thy foes point out that it actually cleared up a lot of the confusing stuff from the first one they are heathens.

5.) Complain that Kerrigan is less competent in brood war. If they state that They act as if Kerrigan is a wuss even though she kills billions in her invasion, almost smashes the terrans in the final battle, and gives lines that are simpley blunt rather than witty, even though blunt terror suits the evil overlord, and state that Kerrigan actually improved since her success in brood war was due to others stupidities and that in WOL she did damage without that, than thou must tar and feather them for their blasphemy.

Follow these rules and follow them well.

First, most of us feel disapointed about the SC2 storyline. This thread is an uneeded manifestation of these feelings.

I suppose any thread praising the story (or aspects thereof) is also an "unneeded manifestation"?

Second, I thought you were a troll (and perhaps Tychus did the same) when I read your post full of curse words and exagerated remarks against DarthYam.

You don't know what trolling is.

DarthYam did harrass haters with his first post and tried to prove a point, but he was trolling. Every single post after the OP was a jest towards discusing SC2 story.

You do not harass when you troll; they are mutually exclusive. If you are harassing with intent to harass, that is not trolling. If you are "harassing" by the vernacular definition -- that is to say, posting an opposite opinion where it is not fully accepted, such as "justin bieber sux" on a video praising the aforementioned artist -- and you intend to make a point, that is still not trolling. Trolling is when you "harass" with intent to incite flame, not intent to make a point. I was not inciting flame; I was making a point, and I backed it up well with several specific examples. My ad hominem was temporary and confined to the first two lines of my post, mostly for comedic reasons (hence the smilie and the "Cadoodles?"). DarthYam, on the other hand, knew his points would not be fully accepted by the community. The validity of his points -- which is undeniably zero -- is not taken to account here; he sought to incite hostile reactions. You are correct when you call him a troll, but incorrect when you refer to his actions as harassment. They are "harassment", not harassment. Based on the lengthy definition I supplied of both terms, hopefully you can understand the notable distinction at this point.

Third, If you were trying to defend your own point of view and were ofended by the OP, then state so in a more polite way. I'm sorry for calling you a troll btw.

Your apology means little, as I was not offended by the name-calling. It is not an offencive term, in my opinion -- merely a statement. Calling a serial killer a serial killer is the same thing as calling a troll a troll. The difference that I took my time to point out was that I was not a troll; thus, you looked significantly more like you were calling a newborn baby a serial killer, in that your statement was far from correct.

Just like DarthYam "had" a different opinion. So shall we call people names before calling them trolls?

I'm not sure why you bothered to include this, as "troll" is definitely a name that's tossed around and taken as an insult (to most people, not me). By calling me a troll, you called me a name, much like you called DarthYam the exact same epithet. Opinions can be changed, people can see (and accept) other people's viewpoints. That was -- and still is -- my goal here. That should have been obvious from the get-go. No, DarthYam is not a troll for having a different opinion; he is a troll for posting a viewpoint in order to incite flame, not to make his point known (or perhaps he was doing both, but obviously it was worded in such a pretentious, all-knowing, sarcastic fashion that it was undoubtedly meant to incite a hostile reaction).

Take a look at where you are. Most of us know more than needed about lore and discuss a wide range of topics. Join us as a polite member of the forums, or join the sad souls of the fallen.

If you have a discrepancy with my behaviour, feel free to take immediate action. I have no problem with just desserts. However, deal out infractions and bans over some raw language here and there, and I will have a problem -- not that me having a problem would really do anything but maybe weigh on your conscious. There are plenty of foul-mouthed posts and posters. I merely paraphrased the post of another member, and that is where the majority of my offencive language originated. Sure, I may have went in an extensive, unnecessary direction, but I am hardly the first member to do so and get away with it. If you felt that there was a large chance for hostile vehemence, you should have ended the thread before it began; which, I suppose, makes responding to your last line rather unnecessary...

Not much to talk about, sadly. Last we heard, they were giving Terran ANOTHER area denial option in the Shredder because Bunkers, Planetary Fortresses, Siege Tanks and Raven turrets clearly weren't enough.

So yeah, I've pretty much given up hope for HotS.
