I just got back from GDC-Canada and I was talking to a former hiring manager for Blizzard and according to him they would not hire anyone unless they played WoW extensively. Fair? Unfair? YOU DECIDE

it would be fair if the job is related to WoW, it would not be fair if I'm applying to work at the SC Dept. for example..

Exactly what Xeo said. If you're going to work on WoW, it's logical you'd be well versed in the game and lore.
If I'm gonna apply to work on the cinematics for SC, when the heck do I have time to waltz around through Durotar, when there's tons of stuff to do?

that's a whole 'nother discussion, man. it's also more of a preference question than a superiority of games thing. i've played a little WoW, and it's not really that bad. sure it's tough, esp when everyone else has a huge jump on it and you don't know what you're doing and learning your way through it, but it's fun if you put some time into it. don't write it off.
You represent what is greatest in us all, and all our hopes go with you. EN TARO ADUN, brave Sons of Aiur!
