Thread: TeamLiquid.net Article: Zerg & Larva Injection

Default Zerg, stronger than we think?

Read the article above. According to team liquid, the larvae injection is the unused key to the zerg success. If you read the article it does really sound like z are imba. I wonder if Blizzard is aware of this. Anyone had the chance to play seriously with the queen at blizzcon? If yes, can you confirm this?

'Fraid not. All I can say is:

    1) The game is still being balanced. Parts will be overpowered and parts will be underpowered.
    2) People are not yet willing to use new strategies (and queen injection is a "new" strategy). Blizzard said beta reports for the first month won't be that useful for that reason.
    3) People are less willing to use "boring" strategies (such as focusing on macro that way), which is probably why so few reports mention how strong the queen is.

Default TeamLiquid.net Article: Zerg & Larva Injection

The article discusses the powerful early-game macro mechanics of the Zerg in the BlizzCon 2009 build. That is, TeamLiquid evaluated early-game build orders and discovered that Zerg is NOT the "weakest race" or "defensive race (source: gamereplays.org zerg review)", as some reviewers have indicated.

EDIT: This thread also links to the TeamLiquid article.

2nd EDIT: A new TeamLiquid forum post offers a rebuttal to the dominance of 1-Hatch Queen.

People did not use those macro mechanics very often (at least from what I have seen at gamescom), when I was talking with random players about their thoughts about the game and told them that there is something like marco mechanics in the game, they were like : "really? i didn't knew" or "i know but i don't know how to use them". People are really unaware what is going on with the game and unknowledge is the first step to hell as we say it in Poland.

O yea one stupid ability that is going to transform the race......if that's the case it would have to be removed or fixed

The Zerg race as an entirety is lacking. Inject Larvae is particularly strong, but the rest of the ground force is not that great. However, one early game rush mechanic does not make the race viable or overpowered, simply unbalanced within itself.

God I just want beta so we can start really picking things apart and fixing them...
