I'm thinking maybe that suit either keeps her Zerg powers in check or helps her amplify them? It does seem to glow both teal and orange.

I'd speculate that it's psionics sensitive armor that changes color to indicate her power level (blue = terran psionics, orange = zerg psionics?)

Maybe her stronger psionic abilities feed off the lingering zerg DNA within her? Or she has control over her zerg self, and can alter it to her liking?

Somehow, the artifact has made her more powerful. Probably cause they want her to defeat the voice.
