Default Zergling character from manga in HotS trailer

    http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Scar_%28zergling%29

This Zergling appears in the latest HotS trailer at the 2:07 mark. Now that's dedication. They put a minor character from a manga into the game, but they change Tassadar, the Overmind, Kerrigan's character, Zeratul, Stukov and the UED's backstory? They even made the VoitD a different character from the DV, and removed Twilight Archons from lore. But they have this, and they completely not mess up Nova's story? Call me surprised!

Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

Nah, Scar was missing his left fang, or whatever you call it. The cinematic 'ling is missing the right.
    SC2 handle - "DrakeyC, code 929"

I ARE A PROPHET! I've predicted three major aspects of SC2 correct, more or less.

June 2007 - I predicted the Protoss campaign would give you new tech as you conducted diplomacy among tribes.

    Hidden Content:
July 18th 2010 - I predicted Raynor would broadcast information of Mengsk's actions on Tarsonis to discredit him and incite rebellion.

    Hidden Content:
June 16th 2010 I predicted the Voice in the Darkness was the commanding force behind the Hybrids. I'm calling it half-right.

You can attribute that to how obsessed the creative team have become in incorporating content from the novels etc.

Sadly I really only felt that SC:Ghost Nova (haven't read spectres yet) and Liberty's Crusade were the only novels that really did SC justice. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the DT trilogy, Speed of Darkness, etc. but they(Blizz) really invested way too much into making these insignificant characters have a big effect on the way of things. It's also an issue on the fans' part since we're the ones always encouraging and pressuring Blizzard to have these guys featured just so we can enjoy a little easter egg.

Someone said the fang thing may be an issue, but you know what? I'll chop that up to designer's error. I'm sure they could easily flip the head on the model if it bugs enough people.

I don't know about you guys, but this is giving me hope that they're taking our criticisms to heart and trying to give Heart of the Swarm's campaign a chance to redeem our opinions on the campaigns. If that's the case, props to them.

The SC2 lore panel gave me some hope. They SOUND like they know what they're talking about.

Scar also had a scar on his face (imagine that lol), plus it can't be the same character since he died in the manga. His genotype was successful enough to be used as a blueprint for other zerglings though, but that doesn't mean they would spawn with missing fangs.

And yes, I hate the fact that they have to include every small character into everything. Makes the universe so damn small.

I don't really think they're including 'every small character' into the game.

There's been no Jacob Ramsey or the newspaper guy (I don't recall his name) from one of the other books. There were lots of potential Terran characters they could have used for WoL, but they decided not to... and when they throw in a couple of old faces, it becomes a bad thing?

Keep in mind Scar isn't an 'old character' technically speaking. It is actually a re-created strain of Zergling that was successful in the past as a particularly efficient and ferocious warrior (if I recall).

Think of it as a weaker version of a Devouring One... it might not be quite as potent or specially evolved, but it is still better than most of your run-of-the-mill Zerglings.
I've fought for the Terran revolution, I've seen the promise of the Protoss, and now I'm ready to join the might of the Swarm...

Actually he made a pirate broadcast in WoL.

It's not really a hero zergling. Presumably it's genotype is what's used for your standard run-of-the-mill zerglings.

If this is indeed Scar, and it appears so, it's interesting how much focus is being placed on him in the cutscenes. You see him at 1:20 and 2:07 in the trailer, which the camera zoomed in close on his face.

I don't think introducing novelized characters weakens the story of StarCraft. I think it helps create a sense of continuity that, in my opinion, has been relatively lacking with the advent of all the retcons. I enjoy seeing small homages and cameos of characters; I was really disappointed when there wasn't anything relating back to The Dark Templar Saga in WoL, not even a snippet from Jake Ramsay.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
