Thread: Iceworld Terrain

Sure, you won't have to choose a tileset that limits what you can do with your map, but I imagine there will still be terrain groups (tilesets) that contain tiles centered around a particular terrain theme. Like, you make a new map, and there is a menu where you choose a particular group (Ash), and under that group it has the terrain associated with that group (dirt, magma, lava, shale, etc.).

What I want to know is if there will be "falls" like lavafalls, waterfalls, tarfalls, etc.

I hope there is. A tarfall would be a cool feature.

I remember an RTS, Age of Mythology, where all that we are talking about in this thread was possible; you could make waterfalls, mix and match terrain, and even mix together different waters with terran underneath it to get neat effects.
Arcturus Mengsk did nothing wrong. Tarsonis is just a conspiracy theory.

Those sound kind of cool. But I do wonder how they'll show space fall.

Or maybe thanks to the artificial gravity on the Platforms, we'll get an upward-flowing waterfall instead...

Damn, I almost forgot how the team color use to be so... saturated.

The jungle has always been the most complex terrain, in these stages of development as someone said earlier, its all about eye candy, and eye candy suggests showing off your best stuff. Ice just appealed in Brood War because of how white counterbalances any color (and that cool effect of the Nexus light) unlike the mix of greens and browns in jungle. Ice also had that semi-sunken ground with a ramp introducing a fourth level of play that's not there in jungle (in BW jungle its raised ground is inaccessible except by transport).

The biggest example of eye candy I can remember is when Sony revealed their PS3 project with that infamous video of Gran Tourismo and it looked :P
