What can I say? Carrier has arrived.

Alright, remember my first, crappy Brood Lord?

    Its replacement is finally here.

Now to get the sizes right. Brood Lords should definitely be big, and broodlings should definitely be small. How does this look?

Edit: Also, nobody commenting on the brutalisk on the previous page? Or the void ray size? Guess they're staying the way they are...

Only Zerg units left are the Nydus Worm and Leviathan (which is on hold until Blizzard releases some views of Heart of the Swarm's campaign Leviathan, so, for now, one Zerg unit left).

Well, there are a few zerg units besides the one's you've listed. If you're really feeling creative, you could try drawing a behemoth if you like. And hey, there's also the hydrolyse (yes, really). Of course, there's plenty of non-game vehicles/ships/strains you could draw, but hey, all down to you.

Concerning the other units you mentioned...I think the brood lord is done well. I can't really comment too much on its size, but I like the artistic style you've used, how if the guardian is a "flying crab," the brood lord is like a manta ray.

As for the void ray and brutalisk...concerning the former, I kind of imagined it being a bit larger, but I like how it contrasts with the carrier. As for the brutalisk, you're right in your earlier comments that it being stated as being larger on the wiki seems to stem only from how its portrayed. However, that still seems to be a basis for some of the units here. Still, I like how it's presented artwise here. Not exactly a missing link between the BW and SGW ultralisks, but very much a sort of in-between strain, if that makes sense. Strong but lithe, and given its more mobile claws, arguably more terrifying.

    All in all, good job.

I have no idea what hydrolyse you're referring to. Google has shown me nothing, and neither has SCWiki.

The art you've done is pretty fantastic, Robear. The Void Ray might use a bit of a width expansion but the height is pretty spot-on, as far as I'm concerned. Brutalisk (ew, horrible name) is pretty tight, too.

    Thank you!

Here're the Zerg units I'm aware of, and choosing not to draw for now:

    • Swarm Host (Nothing from Heart of the Swarm until it's out, because they'll keep changing stuff and maybe have more info in in-game cutscenes.)
    • Locust
    • Viper
    • Swarm Guardian (I'm not doing cancelled alpha units)
    • Hunter Killers, Torrasques, Devouring Ones, Kulkulza; all the hero variants.
    • (Unarmored) Infested Terrans (like SCG's infested scientist and SC2's infested colonists)
    • Brood War Zerglings
    • SC2 winged Zerglings
    • Brain Spectres (whatever the hell those were supposed to be, they show up in 2 SCG concepts)
    • Behemoth (no official pictures as far as I know)
    • Cerebrates
    • The Overmind
    • The space-ball the Overmind flew to Aiur in
    • All cocoons and eggs
    • Those cancelled super-larvae
    • Buildings (spine/spore crawlers, etc.)

But, you seem to know more, ones I've forgotten or perhaps never heard of. Please, enlighten me!

Searching around for the "hydrolyse," I did find this thing that the wiki calls a "hydolysk" that I'd never seen before. Is that what you meant?

Guess I don't know as much about Ghost as I thought... Hydralisk mermaids... Come to think of it, I don't even remember seeing any Ghost footage with water in it at all. I don't think I'll draw it, though... Now I'm just going through the Zerg Breeds category.

    Okay, so, there's more:

    • Feederlings, which I don't think I'll draw...
    • All those Heart of the Swarm upgrade variants: Swarmlings and Raptors (upgraded zerglings), Prowlers (upgraded roaches), Splitterlings (upgraded banelings), etc. Not now, and possibly never, if they're mostly just adding a couple of spikes or colors.
    • Anything from Left 2 Die I'm not drawing.
    • Pygalisks, mini ultras, nope. I'm not doing Omegalisks, giant ultras either. If they don't actually have a different design it's not worth it. 2 Ultras is enough. :P
    • Zerg Drop pods (the wiki just calls them sacs). Huh, I hadn't thought of these. I guess I won't draw them, they're not really a unit, just a cocoon... Plus, I bet their size would vary depending on how many units they were grown to hold.
    • Oh yeah, the "deep-space probes" that the Overmind sent out in the SC manual... Hmm. I could make something up entirely, but, better not.
    • Roverlisks. In one of the books there are infested dogs. I guess I could do one... but it might be kind of silly, and they're never in the games...

NO! THE ROVERLISK DOESN'T EXIST! I already boxed my "Shadow of the Xel'naga" copy and buried it in the wild where none shall find it.

I always pictured the Brutalisk as a fast "dragonlike" zerg strain. It's fast animations support this. I believe you have the scale right on him.

Sounds like someone doesn't like Shadow of the Xel'Naga

    Very Nice.

It looks great, but I have to note, if you tried to do it to scale going by canon figures, you would get bogged down in the contradictions.

There's 11 km long BCs, 1 km long BCs, and 650 meter long BCs for example. At least with Zerg it makes sense because of the biological nature, but for Terrans, it's just silly. Yours looks rather accurate it though

This looks like it goes on Starship Dimensions. Heard of it before?

Are you also going to do buildings? It would be interesting to see the size of a floating command center or the overmind

Lol, he just said he wasn't going to do the Overmind or Zerg buildings. I assume that means he's not going to do Terran or Protoss buildings, either.
