Yeah, sorry, needed to update the large image anyway. Here's the latest version of the ground units...



The Thor size seems right to me, although in the Thunder God comic it was bigger (compare to that SCV).



However, I believe that the comic was drawn back when the Thor was Odin-sized. All of the last minute size changes kind of mess things up. My size seems plausible based on the cockpit size.

The only multiplayer ground units that are missing are the broodling and nydus worm. So that'll probably be it for the ground units, I don't really feel like there's enough info on Zerg units like the Brutalisk, and I don't feel like doing the Predator (robo-cat). Might do the diamondback. Any objections, or other ground units I'm forgetting? (Heart of the Swarm units will not be included at present because they keep changing.)

Of course! I figure I'll draw the Queen's Broodlings on the ground and the Swarm Guardian's in the air floating next to it, though.

Agreed, I think that the Queen's broodlings would actually have to be very small, given that a couple of them can burst out of a human. Like, I dunno, 2/3s of a Zergling on that chart.

I've done a few failed overlord sketches, but this is getting closer to what the finished one will look like. Need to keep working on proportions a bit.

Can't wait to see the Overlord, especially in regards to its size to the other units. That thing has to be able to hold a Sc2 Ultra in it!

That Overlord is tight. I would have envisioned the "forearms" being a little larger -- maybe they use them to carry ultralisks? -- but otherwise, great job.

Yeah, I have, like, 2 ground units to go, a little detour won't hurt.



I'm not completely happy with it, a shape like this would be better:



...but, I think it has a nice balance of SC1, SCG and SC2 in it. Size-wise, I think I'll make it so that the SC2 ultra sort of half fits inside and half has to be carried; I don't want it to be too huge. It's gonna look good.

The overlord is one of those units that really exemplifies why I wanted to do this project; where so many artists do these big, spherical versions— hopefully I can convert some artists to my interpretations. :P

The only change I would make to yours is to have the forearms "blend" into the air sack on the side. You could just change the shape of the "ribbing" in that area to accomplish that. But that's just my personal preference.

Other than that, I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say about the shape needing to be changed.


By the way, this is pretty sweet. Maybe it will help with your reference work?

I have to admit that some of those Overlord examples that Robear provided do accentuate that bloated, round shape of the Overlord but I think it's somewhat misleading because the view of those Overlords are from the front/slightly-off front angles whereas Robear is providing a full-on side view.

However, I do like the smaller/less obvious orbs (and despite the side-on view which would naturally expose them more) on Robear's interpretation of the Overlord because in the other one's, they are massive and too distracting. Maybe that's what Robear meant when he said "big, spherical versions".
