Do you think that the corpse Xel Nagas and Ouros have the same dimensions? But what if i tell you that Abathur will use Xel Naga corpses to create new inb4 zerg strains or resurrected Xel Nagas? But wait... There's more... Niadra is still out there... ZUN ZUN ZUN !

^ The Xel'Naga in the Ulnar catacombs looked smaller than either Ouros or Amon.

Also, the ending cinematic implies carriers are smaller than Nexi. How does a nexus scale on your chart?

I think the stargate scale in that ending cinematic is probably a bit off, but I love that sequence, let's see what we can see.

Here's a screenshot where the carriers are closer to the camera than the Nexus by some indeterminate amount, yet are still smaller, so, yeah, Nexi are huge.

One way to guess the very approximate size of the Nexus based on the carrier would be:
Knowing the length of the carrier to be ~1420 meters, look at the LotV model and see what its width is. I don't really have a good sense of what the design looks like from the top.
The width of the whole stargate is something like 3-4x the width of the carrier when the carriers are passing through it.

And then as the time of day changes there's a bit where a stargate's shadow is cast on the ground next to the Nexus. So you could compare the stargate shadow width to the Nexus and go from there.

I also circled at the bottom of the image one of many pylons and its shadow. Maybe calculating from the pylon in the intro cinematic would be a better bet. On the other hand, it's very difficult to tell how big and how far off the ground that pylon is floating. It's pretty high up.

If you scale down that intro screenshot so that the pylon sizes match, the zealots would be too big for the rest of the scene, but this is a bad comparison.

(Thing is though, I'm 100% confident they had already finished this cinematic before I came up with my ~1420m estimate. I only came up with that number after they agreed that the battlecruiser could be around 980m. I was not shown this cinematic ahead of time.)

Those elevated walkways are another thing to take into consideration. I'd guess they're meant to be about the size of the hallways on the Spear of Adun, but I have nothing to back that up.

Just seems to fit nicely as a Protoss walkway size, and with the size of the gateways and Nexi as large complexes imo. That would be another possible calculation method, though not precise. I think it would result in the carriers being too small though.

Another possible ballpark source would be just to look at the spacing of the trees. Not that we know anything about trees on Aiur, but assuming them to be large but still within Earth-sizes fits well with the walkways.

Central Park's shorter side is .8 km, and here's what big trees filling that looks like: It's fun to imagine the 1.42 km carrier in there.

...Idk, I'm not really going anywhere with this comment right now. Maybe sometime I'll try to estimate something for these. I'd like to see Shadow Archon give it a try.

I don't know. Those carriers simply seem way too small in that shot. But I've always thought of the carriers in SC2 to be smaller and more economical "tactical" carriers when compared to the ones in SC1.

Do not forget to add that Badass Alarak, he deserves it

Of note is we now have 6 carrier variations show in legacy of the void, (including media) The ingame/main cinematic one, the daelaam carrier/selendis carrier (repair drones ingame), the Taldarim one (all the spiky things), the nerazim one (crashed on shakuras), and a design similar to the sc1 design seen alongside the sc2 carrier in reclamation. 6 types of carriers in cannon, plus 2 if you count the fleet carrier from sc1, and the original sc1 design as a supercarrier like the gantrithor.

What, after like 6 days with no updates? I've gone way longer than that before. :P

I'm a bit busy with real life stuff for a little while. I'm also working with GhostNova on getting a version of the BW hydralisk design into SC2, so in the spare time I've had I should be working on the textures for that. But I'll get back to this soon enough.

I think I might also try to devote the time to finally doing the SC2 heroes, like I did with the BW heroes. Those were pretty popular the first time around, and, like DefilerRulez said, everyone likes Alarak. And Abathur, and all that.

Any votes for either -focusing on heroes or -focusing on unfinished ships/the Odin or -focusing on hybrids?
