Thread: The great DotA conversion thread

Its like I'm talking to a brick wall. What I'm saying is make DotA in StarCraft 2. Replace the WC3 heroes with SC heroes, who have original stats and abilities. Then name it Aeon of Strife instead of DotA. And that is the best way to do it.

Precisely! Moreover, it's the 'DotA' name that is most recognizable. Not using its name might cause people to overlook it and so, not catch on. That said, the name 'Defense of the Ancients' makes no sense in SC2's setting. And so, I suggest a new name that still pays tribute to the original name while fitting the new setting:

I say SC2's DotA should be called 'Defense of the Futures'.

I don't agree with that, I think if they kept the name DotA people will not play it just because it's called that, or has that name in it. Just like people that HATE World of Warcraft with a BURNING PASSION for w/e reason, people just like to hate things because their mainstream/has gotten a bad wrap but they never really looked into it themselves, ie: prob most WoW hate.

I would call it something else, because people will find it for sure and the people that liked DotA will play it and give it life, and the haters that hate DotA will at least try it a couple of times before they realize that it IS DotA just on SC, but by then they will be able to make a educated decision if they like it or not. Not like what some people do, in hating things for no real reason, like irrational hate =P
Sonic: [dressed as a cop] Let me speak to the driver.
Grounder: I'm not driving. He is!
    Scratch: No I'm not.
Sonic: Driving without a driver? Now you're really in for it.

Sonic: You know? I sure have fun.

    Defense of the Artifacts.
Considering there will probably be many artifact doodads/buildings in the game. That way it's still DotA, but relevant to StarCraft.

For the few fan favourites, they could be brought back with a similar model, but other than that I'd rather see something new than just a copy.

As a side note, anyone seen this Heroes of Newerth game? I'm surprised how this DotA clone blatantly rips off their heroes.
Heroes of Newerth's creators got express permission from Icefrog to do the game. I'm pretty happy that they are doing it, too; an updated Dota with a game engine and MP server actually built around Dota will be awesome. I can't wait for the game, personally.

As far as DotA in SC2 goes, honestly, I think it'd be best to just make a new AoS. Especially since League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth will both be out.l

Sounds a lot like another game I've played. The game was alright, but not excellent. I can see the idea being used, but I'm sure most people will fall back to the classics.

I agree on Aeon of Strife. It's most well known to be a StarCraft map to me. And IMO it sounds cooler.

    Ohhh!

Just like painting an orange blue and calling it a blueberry. Gotcha.

Most DotA players will go play Heroes of Newerth, so luckily, we wont see DotA 2 in SC2.

Hopefully there will born something as good(though not in my opinion, but fact is, it's greatly done), but new

Why do DotA for SC2 when HoN and LoL is out there?

HoN is already way better than DotA, and got all the required upgrades.
LoL is very very much in beta still, if you know what I mean, and is not a conversion of dota, it's a new game.

Awesome, thanks for the news about HoN, had no idea about that. Signed for the beta, should hopefully get a key later today!
