After having built and seen many of my computers die. I can tell you this, death is essentially an eventual cycle. All CPU'S/GPU's eventually die. Sure my Circa 99 Pentium 2 computer runs still but it doesn't really "Run".
Everyone has a due date, that just really depends on you and some other various factors and good/bad luck.
It'll happen one day, and it'll just be like your computer short circuiting (heart attack) - or a painful and slow hard drive degrading problem (Alzheimers) or I suppose some people like the eternal sleep (Shit, my comp won't turn on!!). Or for those in humid areas....rust growing inside your computer (cancer).
But like Fight club would say, if you stretch the survival rate long enough - everyone drops to 0.
Meh, it's a phase of a continuous cycle. In the larger scope of things, our existence or even the Earth's existence is rather comical and irrelevant in the grand scheme of the universe. Even if we reached an age of what StarCraft lore says, a simple blackhole or supernova would wipe out this entire area. Zoom out abit into the milky way and it's like nothing ever happened.

Besides aging, have you guys ever thought about war? Even if we cure aging, will we simply not fight with each other and kill each other? Don't think aging has anything to do with a bullet being shot into your head (I'm not trying to be rude)
My view on it is, no matter what we do there will always be death, no point in worrying about something you wont have control over -- There will always be something

Having a mid-life crisis Grad? :P
Death is death. Go own a business or start a family. Go invent something. Have some goals in life. Whatever.
But hey, if you're looking for a quick death, all you have to do is look at one of Demo's signatures. Those things are god damn hideous.

Where did Gradius give you the impression of having a mid-life crisis?
Aging? Not so much. Gender imbalances such as in China? Ooooh yeah. China in 10 years is going to have have 50 to 60 million more men than women. That's never happened anywhere in history, but when a country starts to have more men than women they go to war to have them die. Or, else, they wreak havoc on society because of the destructive force known as testosterone.

Nationalism, which is a big cause of war, has noticeably gone more and more away in the last century. The more interconnected society becomes, the harder it will be for us to get into destructive conflicts like that. It will still happen, even hundreds of years from now, but it will be less and less of a factor until intraspecies warfare is eliminated.

Wars. Goddamn wars. The average sane guy wouldn't want to go to war. It's the fracking leaders that get us into these kinds of trouble.
Wars are created, imo, by those in power. Most people don't, imo. But there are those few who are crazy. So instead of spending billions in war related projects, humanity could have spent it cultivating stuff. But what the hell. This world is insane.
This is part of the dark aspects of man. Death comes to the good or bad.
But yeah, there are more causes of war. For example it's a necessity when a radical change is demanded. It's tied to a deeper human struggle, i believe.
edit: You guys have probably read this.
Dalai Lama was asked.
"What thing about humanity surprises you the most?"
His answer was as follows:
"Man"
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money
Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health
And then he is so anxious about the future that he doesn’t enjoy the present,
And as a result he doesn’t live in the present or the future
And he lives as if he’s never going to die, and then he dies having never really lived.

Being philosophical about death generally indicates the deepest sadness. This thread is prolly thinking that.
It's only necessary if people really want to isolate themselves from one another. I recommend reading some Assimov. He gets you thinking about the sorta shit I'm thinking about right now. xDBut yeah, there are more causes of war. For example it's a necessity when a radical change is demanded. I echo some of the posts here. In the greater scheme of things, our existence would not really matter. It's an immutable fact.
