Thread: Stopping heat from entering Room

Default Stopping heat from entering Room

I need to keep heat away from entering through the ceiling, where should the foil covered side be facing?

I have this roll of some sort of foam sheet that has one side covered with foil. Should the foil be facing downward (or where I can see it) or in contact with the ceiling where heat is coming from?

Meaning, in order to keep heat, from the ceiling, entering the room, the sheet should be attached so that the foil is between the ceiling and the foam part?

    or visually:

    ---------------[ROOF]------------------…
    HEAT HEAT HEAT HEAT
    ------------- [ceiling] -------------------
    [-------------foil part-------------------]
    [-------------foam part----------------]

    -----------------[floor]---------------…

    Is the above figure correct?

That sounds right. Foil spreads the heat through the area and the foam works as an insulator. Also, remember the foil used to keep people warm or safe from fire. I don't know if it is the same foil, but it probably is, so it should be facing the ceiling.

Two from yahoo answers said the foil should always face the heat source too. Search through google says the foil reflects heat.

Maybe this foil I have is a lie...

I thought about that actually. Took a bath, after a four day stretch, but still... maybe the lie is a lie?

edit: The Lie that is a lie, is a lie of a lie that is more of a lie than the first lie.
