My thoughts exactly.
Here we have an author who takes an awfully long time putting things together in the books; the TV show is only going to slow his progress further.
but we know the next title is "winds of winter"

I'd say they might split book 3 as well, but I don't think it will delay the books. HBO now shares its interests with the book fans. They WILL want the books out by the time they start working on their respective seasons, perhaps 2 or 3 years from now. Yes, mister Martin has to work with the producers in order to keep the series in line, but in return HBO might give him enough money to "accelerate" the writting of the books. They are also being smart about reducing the animation budgets.

I didn't mean that it would delay the books, I mean that it would already be difficult enough to finish all seven of the projected seasons. If you start splitting up the books to make more seasons, then that just makes it even harder. Seven seasons is pushing it for any TV series, much less an HBO special, eight or nine seasons would be ridiculously optimistic.

You should remember that these are small seasons. Other shows have up to 20 episodes and have lasted for even 5 seasons. The story is set and it has been a really succesful show IMO. Each of the 10+-1 will be justified by each of the books. Extending the show to 10 seasons won't hurt the plot because it was already ment to last that long.

We're talking about hbo TV though, these are really long tv episodes which have great visual effects: costume, sets, props and cool cg.

I'm not saying it'll hurt the plot. I'm saying they might run into budgeting or popularity problems. Despite there being fewer episodes, most HBO series don't have more seasons than regular TV shows.Extending the show to 10 seasons won't hurt the plot because it was already ment to last that long.

Looks like the plot won't be extended and there will still be only 10 episode, and I loved the twist they gave to Pyat Pree. Poor Maestre Luwin.

Blade, I haven't been able to see too many episodes of this season's GoT, but I watched a clip showing the Shadow Demon.
Now that's terrifying. Dark and full of terrors, indeed. o_o
Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

to touch upon the whole more season = more $ spent. dont quote me but i remember reading somewhere that HBO has game of thrones on a strict budget so they probably wont worry about the money spent, since it seems the budget itself is making the team anal about every penny spent lol
