Holy promotion batman!

In 2v2, I was gold in season 1, and I haven't had the chance to actually redo my season 2 rankings so I say what the hell, lets just play a game.

Lo and behold, my ally is a complete noob, he's got like mass marauders and I have mass zerglings against a zealot / stalker army. I'm like yea, easy win... but the guy fucking keeps backing away, his 15 marauders kiting 1 zealot while my 50 zerglings are hacked away by the zealot stalker army.

Then he goes and blames me for the loss and leaves, saying that "I can't micro"

So I'm pissed, we lose the game thinking I'll probably be demoted to silver, and wtf I GET INTO DIAMOND 2v2.

So now I'm plat 1v1 (I was gold 1v1, 1 game and promoted to plat, now I'm moving my way to diamond) and diamond everything else.

2v2 promotion system is weird. I was silver 2v2 last season. Lost placement and got into gold 2v2. Won one game then promoted to platinum 2v2. I haven't played since.

lol that is awesome. It's probably because your ally decided to leave you behind. Sweet justice says he got demoted from whatever he had.

2v2 placment being wierd should have soething to do with the high degree of inactivity in aranged team play. This should be adressed to some extent for future seasons though, since the rate f bonuspool regeneration has been reduced for team play (and with it, theconditions and incentive for meeting the criteria of inactivity at 600 pts)

Basically just play enough and be consistent enough in skill for it to decide where you belong.

Pretty much, yes. I kept all my league placements from season 1 in season 2 (though in different divisions) and the only difficulty in moving up has been a very shallow bonus pool, due in major part to Blizz's tweaking and minor part to me winning at a 50-55% clip as opposed to a 35-45% clip as in season 1.
