Some things that could make the site be more fun!^^

    Forums:
*Have A blue poster in the forums.
*Add Thumbs up on side of all the posts, Even if you can approve of a post you might not want 2 add reputation to the poster!

    Community:
*Have Art, movie, custom map competitions with or without prices.
*Featured fan art submissions on front page not just in profiles and small forums.

    Tournaments:
*Info about dates and resaults of GSL, TSL, IEM, Dream hack, MLG and other Major events/tourneys.
*Starcraft 2 pro player interviews on SCLegacy's youtube channel!

Even without these Features I still love the site<3 ^^

SC:L is a top tier fansite but getting Blizz time requries calling in massive amounts of favors. We still have a decent amount of what you're looking for somewhere in development but over the past year or so, the staff has shrunk dramatically which obviously impacts our timeliness. As for the rumors - I've personally never been a huge fan - especially when you are talking about a site like SC:L that likes to be professional. Similarly, to stay on good terms with Blizz you can't just post something like the "allegedly" leaked HotS cinematic video.

I also think you guys can make a MAP SECTION, I mean even that has been taken by scmapster. They are still pretty small, if you compare it to WC3, the SC2 map community is still small, but its going to be growing I guarantee you and taking that potential and making a nice and easy page to download/upload maps with good community around it can really elevate the site.
It's a matter of proper staffing and while we are interested in this - we currently don't have the resources we need to explode into the mapping arena.

And this is what I'm talking about, there are still some opportunities with this stuff like maps, mods, smaller tournaments, nerd gatherings, replays, etc... I mean you can keep the lore aspect of SClegacy, but I mean you can't just pray blizzard delivers A+++ story that everyone is going to talk about for years to come. And even if that was the case, there needs to be other things to bring new community and retain old one.
We have the LFC, maps and mods are addressed above. But in general, we agree that if the lore continues to stagnate we're in for more trouble, so we've already begun exploring new avenues - slowly. It takes a ton of work to move a behemoth like SC:L anywhere and it requires enormous amounts of dedication and time from all of the staff involved - potentially for no benefit. Over the past years we've attempted many features/etc and abandoned them part way in for various reasons. We're trying to adapt, but it gets much harder as the staff gets older with more real-life responsibilities and very little, young - new blood willing to do a lot of the heavy-lifting. Currently, much of the current staff is on hiatus (for various personal reasons/lack of motivation/ or etc), which obviously disrupts flow or is MIA. Obviously those that are MIA will likely be quitely retired but that still begs the question of how to do more with less. I've been working on SC:L/the community for almost 14 years. Trust me - these points you bring up are nothing new - we've been discussing and strategizing for months. We have a lot of ideas - but we have to develop our staff in those directions and eventually, when we are ready to grow again, pick-up new staff that is willing to learn the trade.

Well teamliquid covers TSL well. Then those short like weekend tournaments like MLG and Dreamhack are pretty well covered by TL.net since it's only a few threads for all the results. In terms of GSL though TL.net is kinda bad since there's so many threads on it.

Hence why i made a thread for each GSL since January i believe. Helps me as well as other fellow SCLers keep track of who won and who's going to up/down, etc. I still find Gom's records page lacking so i'll keep doing it for GSL.

In terms of the NASL then their site NASL.tv does pretty well so i find no use putting results here. Especially considering the post I had to make to keep track of NASL was a huge huge beast.

In terms of times when the matches happen TL is good with that.

EDIT: And feedback on those threads I create would be helpful. Like whatelse I can do to make it better for everyone. Thread's i've made so far for gsl:

Don't think they have the time for it. Plus it would be a "daily result" thing. So doesn't like have a whole summary of the whole long tournament. Would basically be similar to TL. Then SCL would probably want a writeup on each match.

Its not something that I demand, Its just something that would be nice if SCL could implement it. I'm sure that someone in the SC community would love 2 join the SCL staff and putt up some tourney news? But I don't want this site 2 look like TL.net but a weekly update of community news couldn't hurt? :P

The best would probably be a whole tournament section. Then put as many tournaments, big or small, as possible there. Youplayoff.com does a pretty good job in it's SC2 section. They can display nice brackets and group stage. Even have player profiles. It's probably the best place to find tournament results for SC2.

This is pretty cool. A DB post that while potentially offensive and a little unclear has spurred a pretty radical discussion! Way to go team! Props to LoA for turning the thread around into something constructive instead of a typical flame fest of DB vs. the world.

I think SCL's strength lies in its members. It is welcoming of the casual and serious players alike, not so much at TL where you need over 9000 posts before you can post anything people will read. I rarely play StarCraft these days, but I still check the forums regularly because I enjoy theorycraft, and the way people talk to each other here. What was said earlier about niche businesses is totally true - as long as there is a community to support it, the site can sustain itself and perhaps grow into some of the areas that people have been suggesting - map sharing, tournament coverage, etc.

To conclude: I don't think, DustinBrowder, that SCL is going to 'die off' or be subsumed by TL because this site isn't TL.

Believe me LOA I know, I've run a lot of websites myself, actually I was once a competition on sclegacy, when SC2 was announced. Was running 7 websites alone then and had to prioritize, ended up with 3 websites and shut down the SC2 one.

Also from experience I know that if you have at least several thousand viewers you can get stuff.

You would be surprised to see how many teens will hop for the opportunity to be staff, and I very well know that you pride yourself with quality content and can't just have anyone as staff, but I'm saying out of the masses there may be few potentials out there.

Biggest thing would actually be good web designers, again from experience I know if its a one man job its fakin hard, CMS help, but at the end of the day you need custom design, custom widgets and features.

Still getting stuff be automatic, placing it basically on the community always works best, sort of like a wiki, where everyone can chip in stuff, but the few staff moderate it so someone doesn't grief on it.

Again I'd like to see some project you were mentioning come to fruition and I think sclegacy is able to gather people to help out if it really wanted to.

I would like to thank our members though. You guys are awesome and we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you - and hopefully sometime this year we'll be able to reveal a few of the perks we have in store for you.

Nothing to forgive when/where one's opinion is always welcome. Your coverages, features, etc. have always been great and always will be because that is who the SC:L staff is, imo. Simply put: people who desire excellence often provide it as well.

I eagerly await these new things.
