    Default SC2 and community

    Hey there.

What do you think, is it best for SC2 community to be over at one place at teamliquid.net or do you think there needs to be more decentralized community.

Also seems a lot of websites have gone old, for example sclegacy is one of them.

What do you guys think? Why is there one and only major SC and SC2 website aka teamliquid and do you think websites and forums like this one have not taken the opportunity to do something more, than the old school news coverage thing.

I mean this site had potential to host some tournaments, it even had some competition with GTX 460 to give out, but why not more events, why not improve the forums and stuff like that.

In a way I guess this is better, since all the focus is on one website and you can find everything there, but on the other side there is no competition and sometimes having a little tighter community is actually more interesting.

What do you guys think? is one forum/website to rule them all the best or what are your thoughts on this?

I cannot believe you actually asked this here, a non-teamliquid website. Who is responsible for this nonsense?

    Oh.

    Damnit.

Temp bans never last as long as you'd like.

Also, ys, I know this is a (very transparent) attempt to insult SCLegacy because your feelings are hurt but I'm going to ignore that fact so I won't waste anymore time

Uhhhhhhhhh...........dustinbrowder and his usual crazy threads. Each community has its own purpose. Gosucoaching for example is part of the community but is focused towards coaching. Reddit as well is part of the community and has its place. Usually for funny things and there was a tournament held under the name reddit though not the main reddit starcraft section.

And the people who held that tournament opened wellplayed.org which seems to focus more on specific tournament coverage. Teamliquid is just a large part of the community. To put it in MMO terms it's become like the main player area where people hang out, etc. But you'll always have groups who prefer a more "quiet" place or a place focused on something in particular.

Teamliquid tends to serve the majority reasonably well but specialist sites will always have their place. And are you suggesting SCLegacy is dying or something?? It's just not in the main interests of the site to host any tournaments right now. Not every single forum/community site has to hold tournaments.

And you'd have to refer to the staff why not more "whatever you want" but I would think it has to do with time and money. It's not like we're into SC2 full-time and if people want to hold small tournaments announcing it at TL works better at spreading the news. Gosucoaching for example makes it sort of into a business to get coaching from pro players. Then they benefit from investing money into GCPL to create hype about themselves and advertise themselves.

Plus you're asking if everyone in a community wants to be on one particular site...... That just shows you don't understand people. There is no community that can be completely satisfied with everyone in one site/area. No matter what game you'll have fan sites, clan sites, strategy sites, etc. And even in general take news for example. Technically they all cover the same things. All the same news pretty much. Do people in general only want one news channel?? The answer is no because they want a news channel that is tailored to show them most of the things they are interested in.

Same with community sites. People want different things from these sites and TeamLiquid.net can't satisfy everyone. So dustin.....there will always be split off sites such as SCLegacy. If these split off sites do not cater to anyone at all then they'll die out. But as long as at least 2 people are regulars on that site then it can continue on forever but in a small capacity.

    Hey guys

So, do you think one only site like Teamliquid should exist for a sucky game like Starcraft 2? As we all know, Starcraft 2 is a boring and imbalanced game that needs to get destroyed, so we can all agree it is best for us to leave a horrible site like SCLegacy, to which I am talking to, and go to TL.

As we all know, TL is better in every single aspect and it is a great site for a sucky game that I hate and play. What do you think? Is this site horrible, very horrible or the worst thing that happened to the gaming community?

    ...

Sorry...had to let the steam go out

both tycus and arkalis you guys are unbelievable and I really don't wanna insult your IQ here.

First of all read my post. Yeah TL is 100x bigger, yeah its better and I don't think anyone can argue that, but that is not my point.

The discussion I'm trying to get going here is that here it is several members on this forum, few news here and there on the website and there are few other websites, but nothing to come forward to.

My question is do you think Sclegacy and websites like it have missed a good opportunity to get a big chunk of the community and the result is TL being the biggest and best website for everything SC2 and I'm not posting this as an insult to the people that are running the website here, its just a fact and I'm trying to get your opinions if this is good or bad and if these websites will slowly die out, or is there a possibility to come back?

So t*r*s like the above mentioned please don't post when you clearly don't understand.

Was about to say the same thing about trolling. Anyone know good "don't feed the troll" image sites?

EDIT: Not worth it anymore to discuss anything with dustin. It's never productive in any way. I'm not even sure why he hasn't been banned yet with how most of his threads/posts lack clear thought but more "I am right. Everyone agree with me. If you don't agree with me you're stupid and don't know anything."

    [sarcasm]

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, DB was alone in his negative posting.

    (fast forwards to present)

    Yep. Still alone.

    (fast forwards 5000 years)

If you look out the port side of the starship, you'll see some dude with the screenname DB still alone in his negative ancient Internet forum posting.

    "Grandpa, what's the Internet?"
    "I don't know honey, I don't know."

    [/sarcasm]

I mean, really, so negative and so subjective. The negativity issue horse has been beeten into a boneless, nearly bloodless pulp. However, you do realize that there is no possible statistic calculatable that can reasonably support your argument/discussion, don't you DB?

Regular registered users? Inappropriate due to the volume of potentially inactive/inappropriate users, depending on how you define regular posters vs. casual posters vs. inactive users. Average hits per day? Subjective and skewed on the grounds of repeat hitters. Even if we go by a net hits to correct for these biases, we still have an arbitrary time period over which we are measuring our statistic which risks our definitions of poster types and/or net hits. Any benchmark is therefore purely arbitrary based on what the presenter wanted to show. Which means this discussion's basis is tenuous at best, meaning no matter how much you want a good discussion, you'll never get one like this.

Maybe its just me but I don't even like TL that mush, or Reddit. But I do love me some SCLegacy, Its one of the few forums I visit. Sure the SCLegacy may lack tournament news but I don't mind I still hear about it on youtube and sc2 battle.net

Don't get me wrong I love the Liquid team its just the site that is... bit boring and way 2 crowded

<-Is it just me or does it look like the Mohandar avatar is... jacking off o.O
