Thread: Nydus is build anywhere with vision!

    Also this one:

Okay, so I played a ton of SC2 games this weekend at Blizzcon. It looks like they have made some changes in how the Nydus Network works. Here is what I found:

    The building NYDUS NETWORK:

    - Units that enter this building go into the "Nydus Network". Units may also be given rally orders to the building.
    - The player can exit any/all units from the network at a rate of 1 unit per .5 sec (that's an estimate)
    - Shares the network between all NYDUS NETWORK buildings. No matter where a unit enters, it becomes part of the same network and can then be exited from any building.
    - The building has the ability "Spawn Nydus Worm" (or something named close to that) that spawns a destroyable, unmovable, worm anywhere you have creep. I used this many times and found that I could spawn a worm for each building. I could also spawn a new worm after the old worm was destroyed (I didn't notice if it was on a cooldown limiter or limited in any other way).

    The unit NYDUS WORM:

    - This unit doesn't actually seem to exist. It's more like a building than a unit. It comes up wherever it is spawned (see above). It is destroyable while coming up, and cannot release units for the first 3 to 5 seconds (that's another estimate).
    - Has the ability to exit any/all units
    - Units that enter the worm return to the "Nydus Network" and can leave again at a new location.

He seems to be suggesting 1 Nydus Network is responsible for 1 Nydus Worm, as he states in the link uncertain if 1 Nydus Network can spawn more than 1 Nydus Worm.

He also states that you need creep. :\ But I trust the TL guys.

I played about 50 games this weekend.

...zero of them with the zerg. Sorry guys, I wanted to really focus on Terran! I will have a couple write-ups done very soon about it.

Yeah I can confirm that you for sure 100% you need creep for the Nydus Worm.

How it works is you build a Nydus network, and from there you can make a 3x3 "nydus worm" building anywhere, but it has to be on creep and it costs 100 minerals and takes about 5 seconds to make. It is more effective than you think though, because you can put them in a bunch of places with overlords and you can unload any units in the "network" from any of the worms.

I thought it was obvious lol... and yeah, when you build your worm you can just set up a rally point on the nydus network and units will pop-out.

It works even better than the warp-in mechanic.
It takes three or four ( I don't remember) seconds to wait for the end of it's (worm's) animation. Before that, in the spot where your Nydus worm will appear, the terrain is breaking and the ground is bit shaking.

And with one Nydus Network you can build as many Worms as you want.

Well I was using Overlords to spread creep in one of oponents base. I didn't try it on a creep-less terrain.

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

I find it unnatural that it can't be retracted.

Now if only we could get the whole vision/creep thing straight, as well as the worm/network ratio thing.

So, let me see if i understood it correctly: it's mostly the same than the old Nydus Canal, but you now can drop Creep anywhere you want with the Overlord and you can enter and exit from any point you want. They aren't linked in groups of two, like it was on BW.

You can also set a rally point there. This is very good. You can conceal your whole army, build a Worm near an enemy base, and avoid walking all the map to get there. You can use your island expansions to send ground units everywhere you want.

It's a very powerful mechanic, people should be using this a lot more that they are.

This is the Zerg cliff-climbing mechanic, and if you can do this on a border of the enemy's main unnoticed, it could be GG.

It should be allowed to be moved away, but maybe they don't do that to avoid the Zerg player to send all his Worms to the same spot, and move it's entire army in a few seconds.

Can't wait to read them, hopefully there mostly positive!

This is really going to punish people who build there base wrong...and walling in just became not very effective....

Now that i think about it I think it will be nerfed back to the creep requirements...there's just SO much you can do with this even with the old requirements

Sounds like it still requires creep. The OP may have misspoken, and we've got multiple reports that it still operates the same way it has for some time now.
