Sorry to make another post so serious, but i stumbled upon this on reddit and feel i need to share it:
http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/com...l_spill_dying/
... there is a youtube link at the top. i couldnt watch more than 10 seconds of it myself, but just getting the idea was enough to chock me quite badly. Its a cleanup worker who knows she's dying because of BP's betrayal and incompetence
... Apparently, BP used chemicals to conceal the oil (under the water) after the spill; despite it being against regulation, and without warning of the dangers.
these chemicals are dangerous, especially considering what they do to the oil; the oil contains alot of toxicity, but that is largely contained within, untill dissolved by chemicals....
as far as i understand it, this story is under the radar of US mainstream media. the scope of it is also unknown. think the video-blogger claims 1000 workers are affected..... this source says ts 10's of thousands by now. http://bpoil.wordpress.com/2011/02/2...g-in-the-gulf/
al-Jazeera article on it: http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth...955897442.html
msnbc coverage from july 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tckSn...layer_embedded
an article that hints at the possible scope of this: http://www.businessinsider.com/warni...ow-dead-2010-6
... cleanup workers from some spill back in 89 using similar chemicals are all dead by now; life expectancy shortened to something like 53? unfathomable...
... i geuss this stuff takes a while to take effect.
spread the word.
When shit goes this bad, you gotta blame the system. BP has probably been criminally irresponsible on many accounts, but people need to realize that corporations are invented to enable accumulation of individual profit whole eliminating individual responsibilities. this has consequences...
This is the free market at work.
