An alternate explanation is that they were looking for a completely new cast (bar maybe Mengsk's return), signed on the new Raynor guy and Tricia away from prying eyes... but when the fan backlash was so strong, decided the fans were at least partially in the right.

From what I understood Tricia was cast a few months ago.

Honestly, where do people get these theories about Blizzard...? That train of thought is completely illogical.

They cast Raynor and Kerrigan with new Raynor and Glynnis as Kerrigan. Didn't like the vocal chemistry or didn't like who they'd chosen so they put the parts up for grabs. Robert Clotworthy auditioned and got the part, Tricia Helfer auditioned and got the part.

Nothing more insidious than that...

I hate how people dismiss attractive women's acting ability, especially as a voice actor? It's nice that people stick up for the underdog/previous voice actor, but with going as far as to announce Tricia and put her up on the panel like that, they're not going to change it unless something major happens. Tricia is a fan-favorite in the science fiction crowd, to which SC belongs. She'll be great to bring fresh players from other series like BSG.

The question is, do the fans prefer Glynnis purely for the nostalgia factor or because of the very subjective nature that she is 'better' (in which case, the question is how so)?

Both, at least I think that way.

Right. Obviously, Robert and Glynnis who had such awesome chemistry the first time around are going to have zero chemistry.

I'm in no way against Tricia Helfer being a part of this project. I like her very much. Doesn't stop me from liking Glynnis as well, however.

It is. You can hear her in the VA Panel here. I still hold to the fact that I'd prefer Glynnis, but she'll do quite well as Kerrigan. Hearing her talk in more crisp audio has really helped in hearing what they might've liked about her performance.

Okay, well, then, companies don't hire actors like that. :b Glynnis was the first actor they hired as Kerrigan.
