There were no caveats from what I saw. All promotions and demotions are disabled, bonus pools can still be used but will no longer grow.

I understood the rating reset. This was just my way of saying I will be unsurprised and unphased by a season 2 starting point lower than my season 1 end point. And can you write out what MMR stands for please? I assume it's something related to the ranking. Thank you.
@Sinswage: sure, no problem on the write-up math.Just bear in mind that that was but 1 very extreme scenario.
It should also be noted that the patch 1.3.0 notes state tweaks to the bonus pool system, so ranking up/down will be different in that regard also.

MMR stands for Matchmaking Ranking. It's the hidden value of your rough skill level used to pair you up with an even skilled opponent on Battle.Net ladder games. Each time you win it goes up. Each time you lose it goes down. The exact number it goes up or down is not fully known outside Blizzard.

you call street fighter e-sports? this shows you have no clue what you are talking about.
Its like calling throwing stone an athletic competition. Get a grip man and don't write nonsense.
I'm telling you if there aren't big numbers of people playing there can not be e-sports.

Dude, fighting games are bigger than SC2. They were bigger than CS when it was huge. They are probably the biggest esports game out there.
Coming from a Soul Caliber 2 and CS 1.6/CSS background (both played competitively), I can tell you that Soul Caliber 2, which isn't huge but decent sized, had way more opportunities to play competitively than CS 1.6. And that's with two major active leagues for CS 1.6/CSS, which we participated in. You had CAL and CEVO, each having over 100 teams in the Main/Professional level. We would play between 3 and 5 matches a week the entire year plus playoffs if we didn't go 3-13. Despite all this, for Soul Calibur 2, you could walk into an arcade and hop in on any one of the 3 daily tournaments that went on for more than 2 years. And that's just in Chicago with no online play for Soul Calibur 2.

Does the WMBA count as a sport? What about Soccer in the U.S.? Just because it's not what's popular doesn't deny something it's existence or rightful place in the pantheon.
Any game where there are tournaments held with spectators involved and actual money on the line count as e-sports or professional gaming. Just because you don't want to accept it doesn't make it so.
Also, caber toss wants to have a word with you.

just to be clear, you dont have to spend all your bonus pool to get promoted. not even close. you just need to get your MMR to stabilize at a level equivalent of a higher league.. you'll need some consistency to do that, and though i've seen people advance into masters with much fewer games played than i have, im not surprsied your MMR isnt stabilizing at masters level when you ahve less than 100 games played; even if you have it in you.
i see no reason why it wouldnt.
I am an enthusiast of good strategy games, sc2Esports and rollplay, although i dont really play anything atm.
I work an internship at a government agency this fall, and have a good time at it.
I'm being more social, active and honest lately. in all forums.

I got over 3000 bonus points in my pool and I just got promoted to masters in 2v2. (I lost 3 times and then I won once to get promotedI wanted to get into masters 1v1 but failed I figured I would have a pretty high mmr in 2v2 so went to try there a bit, the gameplay was much different from what I remember so I felt pretty stomped some parts of those and sometimes I were just mad at how bad my teammates actually were :P Ah well I have today to get into masters ^^)
