I don't like the zealot statues... it's quite obvious that they've simply enlarged the Zealot model and skinned it stone like. I'd rather have Colossi that are stone like and become working.

First of all, the Protoss might not have access to them yet -- the Colossi have a history behind them which Blizz might take advantage of to give their entrance some extra oomph.
Secondly, your argument makes no sense. You start by outlining their conservation of models as the problem -- you don't like that "they've simply enlarged the Zealot model and skinned it stone like" -- and then... say you'd be just fine if they did the exact same thing, just for a different unit?
Um...

Seriously, guys, the things are clearly designed to be over-the-top. By the developers, not the Protoss, that is.
The whole idea is that fighting them is so completely out of left field that it leaves the unprepared paralyzed from shock or hysteria. Because, lets be honest, fighting the temple decor is something we'd expect from WarCraft, not StarCraft (and the rest of the level is traditionally StarCrafty enough that this encounter can't be anything but a deliberate effort to inject some randomness into the equation).
Sure, they're probably robots. But the important thing is that we, the players, are supposed to share a good laugh before finishing the level.

They are golems,
well xelnaga have created all sort of energy beings, so why not golems (acording to some mythology a gholem is an energy being that groups mass around itself for self protection as well mass around a golem will take more time decompose due to the energies of the little guy)

They're statues controlled by Protoss psychics.
Each limb has joints so that it can move, and in the head is a pair of laser batteries. A powerful Protoss psychic could, theoretically, be able to control something like that.

It's funny how you extrapolated 2 paragraphs of rebuttal from my 5 second 1 line post. Just goes to show that forums have conditioned a lot of people to start an argument out of anything. Most of which always fall under some logical fallacy and never gets anywhere.
I don't like the zealot - opinion, could be because of art design, could be because the model is low polygon, could be many things. None of which is conservation of units.
It's obviously just a enlarged and reskinned model - observation
I'd much rather have the colossus in its place - opinion, again, same reasons as the above.
Rather than questing my opinions, you assume a plethora of variables unknown to you. Why don't I like the zealot? Does it have anything to do with model conservation? Why do I want colossus in place? You ask none of those questions, and start an entire argument outline on your grounds using your assumed variables. You also presume I'm trying to argue a point. I'm merely stating my opinion.
It's typically how I see forums work these days. Pointless arguments with numerous logical fallacies that both parties fail to see. But anyways, I'll humor you:
I don't like the zealot because it's not an exotic enough unit to be made into an end game boss. It feels cheap and too low tech for such a epic scenic unit. My observation is that it is much too low polygon, since it's quite small as a 1st tier unit, to be effective as a large boss type monster and simply enlarging it feels cheap on Blizzard's art department. I'd much rather have the colossus in its place because it's much higher tech, it feels like it fits as an end game unit, it is sufficiently high polygon to look good as a boss unit and it is a robot that could have laid dormant for centuries which fits the lore much better than a bunch of moving Zealot statues that someone at EA could've written. Plus the Colossi beams.. well fit the Colossi. That's all. Just an opinion. If Blizzard decides that these Zealot type monsters are good enough, then I'm sure they'll stick with it. But since we know that the zealot has been remodeled, I'm sure this scene had something to do with it.
Does that make it clearer?
Please, indulge me on a line by line rebuttal if you want. I'll enjoy it.
