Yea it was awesome. Except for the fact that it was insanely expansive. Without speed it they are almost as slow as a Carrier or BC. Does laughable ATG damage. Maybe drones won't laugh when they are being hit but I'm sure other units would.
Oh but yea it had an awesome unit model and it definitely served its purpose on SC UMS games.![]()

The carrier is definitely not the once mighty air capital it was, now with Corruptors/Vikings.
If you look at it from a balance POV, there's really nothing much they can do.
1) Increase Interceptor range = OP . It would just make the cruisers and Vikings/Corruptor range trivial. Ground to air would be a suicide counter to carriers. Due to the maps all having "Island bases", you could possibly fly around and avoid ground units
2) Give it the Protoss Yamato cannon (I believe this spell is actually in the game and was for the tempest, the Carriers or the tempests have an animation that opens up and fires a cannon). It would make it too OP once again and Terran players would QQ.
The carrier would be able to launch interceptors AND fire a 300 Damage blast at units.
I think the problem is that a giant ball of Stalkers + Void rays is just too deadly, the mobility of the Carrier and cost/assembly time/etc is just a joke in SC2. What is the point of carriers when you can blink stalkers + Get a mothership recall. And any anti ground units can almost always be solved through Phoenix prisms and voidray focus fire.

The thing is, you can use carriers lategame to hammer the last nail in the coffin. In lategame PvT for example, when there are less marines around and more tanks and Thors and vikings out, combine your Immortal/HT/chargelot/Stalker force with a few carriers (not a lot about 3) and a few void rays and you got yourself a lategame deathball.
And, only dedicated anti-air will take out such as mass rines. And if you have Psi-storm, you'll just laugh at that. Mass Vikings, hahaha! Mass storm + stalkers. Thors? Fuck no. They tickle Carrier armorand besides Immortals and chargelots alone will eat those up! ^_^
So Carriers are really a good lategame choice, given you have the necessary support. Their DPS is insane as well as the armor vs anything that isn't a viking.

Thors do pretty well against carriers if you let them target the interceptors. Just as the interceptors leave the carriers they're really clumped up so thor splash becomes useful. If the thor doesn't manage that though then yeah the thors are pretty much dead.:P
Bio+tank would still work well though. Marines, marauders and ghosts with tanks. But then most terrans like thors later on in the game.

I just realized the Scout is pretty much FUBAR as a unit so long as Corruptors/Vikings exist. Even though they have sick Air to Air, their stock movement speed (I never understood why they called it a scout when it was slow as crap without upgrades) and limited range makes them trivial in SC2.
Corsairs have been replaced by Phoenixes due to DWEB imbalance...I suppose the graviton beam is more easily "Counterable".
They need to create a new unit and make it a "General purpose" Air fighter. Something thats fast, really fast....enough to keep up with Blink Stalkers.

It's imbalanced due to the DWEB shit. Blizzard pretty much removed all the wide blanketing "Haha ur effed" AOE spells like Corruption/Dark Swarm/DWEB.
It's not really cool when someone just DWEB's your entire choke/front and flies in to kill it. All you can do is litterally just pack up and move backwards. For pheonixes, at least you can gun them down, etc.

DWEB was a tier 3 spell that required a freaking Fleet Beacon that itself cost like 300 gas -_-;; It is meant to be OP, just like Yamato Cannon...
