starship troopers - perfect amount of gore, cheezy themes, cgi and extras(ppl in the movie). its like watching fox news covering "war on terror", if you know what i mean.

and i give credit to the d9 for those un white trucks. during the war in my country we were swarmed by those, but with smaller suspensions. its like a tank on wheels so they are very true in that department. also very true in half life 2 alien weapons.

ST was a good movie because it knew what it was - senseless entertainment.
D9 is a great movie because its something different to everyone who sees it.

Well to be honest I expected a more intense storyline of the movie and I have to say the end is a great cliffhanger which I don't really like.

Of course there is some story but for me it's not enough, I expected something completly new. A human which gets infected, looses his wife and tries to get help from the aliens because an organization exploites him, it all seems to have been there already. I would also like to know where the aliens came from, and why they were so undernurised.

So you thought the storyline was weak and you don't like cliffhangers.

Please state your source. IE what other piece(s) of work have a human which gets infected, looses his wife and tries to get help from the aliens because an organization exploits him?

It didn't matter to the story where exactly they came from, and it was explained in the movie that they were sick and low on supplies.

Interestingly enough, I found this film brilliant. Definitely the best one I have witnessed in the past three or four years.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

I didn't say that the storyline was weak, i pronounced that it's a casual story which in my opinion seems fAmiliar, I had expected some outrageous story which was never dealt before. You can not tell me that this setting is completly new. If you read science fiction some similar stories come to your mind.

The special effects, actors and sound are with no doubt great.

Just tell me what exactly makes this movie a very good one to you ?

Is it that aliens are not the bad guys this time?

Of course everyone reacts and feels different to media such like that. Everyone has his own belief of a good movie.

Bits and pieces are familiar, like aliens on earth mingled with the general population in Alien Nation, and how its obviously a nod to the actual apartheid... but aside from that I'm honestly not sure what similar stories you're referring to. Please list some.

I didn't intend to refer to a similar story. I just said that the story for me isn't something completly new, because it feels familiar. Maybe that's because Peter Jackson used film stylistic elemtents, like in 'Cloverfield' with the shaky hand-cam. Yeah the film reminds me of cloverfield.

Anyways I don't to talk the movie down, in my point of view it's a moderate to good movie but not too good.
