Thread: New Ghost Hero?

    Default New Ghost Hero?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this before but I was messing around with the Editor recently and noticed that Blizzard seems to have modified the Echo models. For those who don't know, Echo was the model and portrait for an unused Ghost hero. For the most part, it was basically a black-haired version of Nova:

    The originals:

    The new ones:

Personally, I really like the new look. It adds some variety instead of just being a Nova clone; though I'm still wondering what's up with Blizzard and giving every Asian character Anime hair. Yet, I'm also a little disappointed since the new portrait is clearly unfinished; as you can tell from the profile view.

But the thing that really puzzles me is that Echo doesn't appear in WoL and her model and portrait aren't in use. So, why update it at all? That got me thinking... perhaps Blizzard has plans for her? Could she be making an appearance in HotS or Blizzard DotA? Any thoughts?

Maybe for use in Blizzard Dota. Or they just plan on randomly making some models to release to the community. Or perhaps we'll see Echo in HoTS.

None of the Blizzard characters have "Anime" hair. Blizzard has always been...no pun intended....big on the oversized statement of their characters.
The orcs with their massive backs, Night elves with eyebrows that work as bats, and marines that look like paladins in the year 3000.
You might have been confused with their recent manga stuff, but that's licensed/outsourced.

This Echo ghost is probably for a custom map. I don't recall her in any of the mangas or comics. I haven't read any of the novels, but the Ghost Academy Manga goes pretty indepth (Tosh and Nova used to have a thing for each other before they got their memories wiped)

And again you had to be pretty big noob about PC not to know about the change, I mean even the birds on the trees knew about it.

I was talking about Mira Han, who has bright pink hair.

Just because someone has pink hair, they aren't automatically an anime-style character. Also Mira isn't asain as far as I know. She has a strange European accent from what I remember.

But that's what I meant when I said anime hair - zany hair colours not seen on most people, in this case being Mira Han's pink hair and Echo's blue/purple hair. As for Mira not being Asian, her surname (which is, in my opinion, a better indicator than accent) would indicate otherwise.

Pretty sure Mira Han is Asian. I've got an Asian friend with a Nu Joisey accent who says judging a person's ethnicity by accent is foolish

Also, given how popular the game is in Asia, you gotta throw them a bone somewhere. Muscles and strong bone structure scare them.

    Rest In Peace, Old Friend.

Might just be the crowd I hang out with, but I know loads of people with pink/orange/blue/purple hair. XD

    Back with all gun's blazing.
