Thread: Favorite and least favorite missions

Default Favorite and least favorite missions

In the campaign, which missions were your favorite and least favorite? For me my favorite missions have always been the stealthy infiltration missions where you control a small pack of units and strategically work through their defenses. Because of that the mission Ghost of a Chance was my favorite. Plus you get to use nukes. Breakout is probably my 2nd fave.

Lease favorite is hands down the Supernova missions. At it's core it's a really clever mission, but any one that pressures you to complete an objective while racing against time is just too stressful I find. Although I did find a great way to cheese this mission. Read the spoilers to find out how:

    Hidden Content:

    1. Start off bunkering up with infantry and building as many banshees as you can. I wouldn't recommend starting this mission until you have the tech reactor.
    2. Don't bother expanding...just train as much as you can until the flamewave has reached your first base.
    3. At that point, use your infantry to grab the 3 nearby artifacts, and then kill off the nearby units immediately to the bottom right of your main.
    4. Fly all your buildings and banshees to the right side of the map. Try your best to keep your banshees and at least one building alive. It helps having the research that auto heals burning buildings.
    5. Wait for the flame wave to nuke everything on the map until it's just about ready to hit the altar. Make sure to keep your building(s) to the far right and alive.
    6. Use your banshees to take out the 2 nearby cannons and then peg the altar. Combined with the flamewave, you should be able to easily destroy it before it destroys your last remaining building. Without at least 5 you probably won't be able to do enough damage before your last building falls.

My favorite was probably "The Dig" because of the giant laser drill, or All-In, because it changed my conception of how hard RTS missions could be.

I hate those types of missions too, but Engine of Destruction is worse than supernova. You've got that fat tub of lard in a metal suit churning out inane lines "what's next jimmy, trash that base right?" while charging forward to his death and losing the game for you.

Just about 12 maruders and 6 medics should be enough for supernova and some vikinfgs for air support.

My favorite is outbreak because of zombies and I can't think of any missions that I even dislke.

I agree that 'Breakout' is soooo replayable . However, the first time around, no mission hit me as hard as 'In Utter Darkness'. I was just so wowed by how epic a mission that was. That mission was so cool that the rest of my WoL experience was somewhat meh because no other mission, even the finale on Char, matched the epicness that is In Utter Darkness.

My least favourite is probably Maw of the Void . It just takes comparatively long to get a sizeable army rolling, and I'm a little impatient .
The only place for a hamshank is on the dinner plate!

There's a reason why Edward Longshanks was an evil git in 'Braveheart'! Down with the shanks! All of them!

Favourite is "In Utter Darkness". Fun on any difficulty. Was a real pain to get the Brutal achievement for it.

Least favourite is either of the final Hanson missions. Both of them were really boring to me. Just felt very stale. Considering the arc had some interesting missions like escort the convoys and outbreak it ended very flat.

Maw of the Void was one of the longer, more tedious missions in the game. It's not too terribly difficult, but the tricky thing about this mission is the lack of resources...so you really need to be wise about your spending. My first playthrough on brutal I made the mistake of upgrading my vehicles to 3 1 instead of my ships which was pointless, so I ended up restarting. Those icons always throw me off.

2nd playthrough I took my time, meticulously using my BC's and DT to snipe key buildings and units. About an hour in I've got 1 of the field generators remaining while still trying to take my time. Then I realize, wait a second...I've got a fleet of 15+ BC's here and I'm wasting my time. So I sent them all in to Yamato the final building and it was over. Probably could have ended it much sooner if I just charged in.

All In was definitely the hardest for me on brutal. I decided to go the air route this time and it was complete chaos. Had to restart at least 5 times before finally getting it.

Well I don't really have a hate mission but the All in on brutal is just 2 mush and on hard its the only mission I have not made the extra achievement... but it still is a fun mission!

The fun ones is just 2 many but I loved the Maw of the void unlike you xD. Just showes hove OP Science vessel BattleCruiser is who don't like immortal BC's and I did this for the brutal!

I hate the evacuation one and the train one, those are slow and boring as hell.

sc2 wol is a terran campaign and yet my face mission is in utter darkness (the last protoss mission) and it was way better and epic than ALL IN campaign. It was the only mission that actually made me feel that there was a purpose and satisfied after finishing it.
