The most basic basic version would be, grab a portrait, make an untextured model that lines up with it, then do a planar projection from the camera's angle, and apply the portrait as the texture.

That is phenomenal, super cool. Hope they release an English dubbed version. And I want to know where to see a better look at that Ultralisk statue that they mention briefly!
I also just found the...
Thank you very much! Don't know if I can elicit that reaction for all of the units, but I'll try my best!
If you want to see the unfinished dragoon in realtime together with the unfinished High...
Thanks! Small update: The dragoon's looking pretty good, just needs a few more details in some areas (legs mostly).

Well, this is a fun time capsule of my modeling abilities and knowledge years ago. I think I'll do a little thread necromancy, since I'm back on the same subject again? Here are 3D versions of some...
There's also a difference between a Zerg entity using technology (infested terran mindlessly pulling the trigger on the gauss rifle still in its hand), understanding technology (seeking out ammo to...
Michael Vicente, a Blizzard artist, posted some great shots of his Guardian model for Heroes of the Storm. What a beauty!

I mean, they did design a bunch of new Hybrid units for LotV. The dominators, those flying ones, etc. And they made a cutscene model of the hybrid reaver, so could have been looking at potential new...
All of these are concepts he did for Legacy of the Void. He already had the hybrids and all unit designs from the previous expansions to draw on.
He also is the guy who did the LotV cinematic...
A little Goliath progress.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. Tbh Protoss, especially in SC1, are such a warrior culture and are so proud/arrogant that I don't really think they'd go for that kind of camouflage. Especially since...
Another example of me getting actually good at texturing/materials, here's some progress on my Zergling model from a couple years ago. Still not done, but getting somewhere I'm proud of.

Thanks! And yeah I was never a fan of the Phoenix name for that reason. Also, Protoss stuff is often named after old/ancient terms (dragoon, archon), but not mythological creatures... IIRC in SC1's...
I really don't have a lot of free time these days, which is unfortunate. But I'm continuing to occasionally have a chance to better learn how to texture SC stuff. Here is a small amount of Phoenix...
I'm happy with cyborg zealots- imo the ones with the zealot leg upgrades should have 100% robotic legs already, no reason why one who lost an arm or something wouldn't get a prosthetic arm.
That...
Every now and then I get a chance to chip away at this stuff. Started texturing my old roach model today.

Just as a side note, if they release a Warcraft 3 Remastered with a slightly edited WC3 map editor, how funny would it be if people used SC models to make a SC2 custom campaign in the WC3 engine...
I'll take a Rogue Squadron/TIE Fighter game in the SC universe. I would enjoy that.
Here is also a terran material test...

Super busy with work and life, but also when I finally do get around to having time to finish things they'll be much higher quality than all my previous fan art stuff. This is just a little test,...
Just btw, manifest destiny and the white man's burden are two related but different things. This is manifest destiny (mildly racist political cartoon of darkness, native americans and wild animals...
Thanks, me too! Also working on a SC1 marine but it's not far along enough to show yet.
I'm working on yet another Hydralisk model. surprise. It's going well though!

It incorporates features from every single hydralisk design, though the core is the...
It's not a freelancer, they're a ~100-person animation/game art company in Malaysia. The reasoning I assume is that SC:R was a low-budget side project, and I assume contracting a studio in Malaysia...
