August 12th, heard that one a lot too. OOh, anybody got a pool going on when the NDA ends?
I put 50 imaginary bucks on August 17th. Any takers?

I'll take that bet, because it's August 12th. I've never heard August 5th, and Spychi is the only person to say the 17th that I've seen (not that I don't think Spychi is reliable... =S). But the 12th is by far the one I've seen pop up the most.
Hardly a guarantee, but it's good enough for me. :p
Through the people I've been able to talk to, I can ONLY confirm without a doubt that it's not the 5th.
Gee... I'm glad I could provide information that was helpful :P
The beta will NOT be released before Blizzcon.
If you give me 100-1 odds, I'll put 50 imaginary bucks on the 5th! :D
And there really IS plenty of time for the beta to come out before BlizzCon...however I can see them waiting until after that. I mean, imagine you spent a gazillion dollars getting a blizzcon ticket off Ebay, you go to BlizzCon, and find out that two weeks before you get there people are already playing SC2.
Just a thought. I mean, there ARE other reasons to go to BC, but I'm willing to bet over 50% got their tickets so they could play SC2.
My reasoning?
1. The NDA on the current info until August 12th.
It will be about Single Player and a "revealing" of Battle.net 2.0. It will most likely show off new features being implemented for it and other things like that.
2. Blizzcon.
Oppertunity to show off the latest build of Starcraft 2 and more features waiting to be revealed for Battle.net 2.0 mainly features for Starcraft 2 to get the general public excited. People will "test" these features at Blizzcon to prepare for beta.
3. Beta after Blizzcon.
Possible feedback and excitement from the people trying Starcraft II and the newly revealed Battle.net 2.0 features. More time for people to signup, etc etc. Once the new features are revealed then they can start the beta.
Damnit, if Beta starts on the last week of August, Blizzard should just say "the start of fall" instead of "definitely summer."
I cannot refute that logic. It may not end up being correct, but it is logical. BC is in itself a hype machine, so it could be something of a steamroller effect that ends with beta.
However, that is based on a logic of the beta being just another promotional tool. Is Blizzard treating it as that, or are they treating it as it should be treated, a tool to help narrow down their balance problems, exploitations, and bugs?
I suppose we won't know until it's actually released.
I know, as if we weren't already hyped enough. Lots of places are going to explode once beta hits.
Well I could be wrong and some people at SC2GDF might as well. I saw that date on other sites, I am not sure but with the last translation about Wraiths I saw 17th on SC-Source.
Well if 12 is true, thats great, that means that Beta could hit before BC, but I am very optimistic on this.
