LOL coming from a guy who is comparing Sonkie to Moon.
Meh, I don't know much about WC3. All I know is that Nada is miles above Yellow, and if Moon is miles above Sonkie than it should be an entertaining game.
Except SC2 is more similar to SC1 than WC3 is to SC2.

Hey, I know a lot of you are probably tired of talking about this, but don't you think this would be a good time to announce the beta date? The same place the game itself was announced?

Sry Moon, the only creep here is you.
That's the most retarded comment I've seen from you in a long time. Moon is a very talented RTS player, I wouldn't underestimate him. So you think WC3 players can't learn a new game? Ever heard of human intelligence? /s I'd like to see Moon win just so I can come back and say you were wrong about a WC3 pro never beating a SC pro. But then, you'd probably just make excuses...
Anyway, can't wait to see the match, gg hf Nada and Moon. :)

Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
umm. I follow the proscene quite often. Didnt Yellow just beat Bisu?? Yellow, the one who sucks.. beating the best P in the world, that even JD has trouble with..
June 20th, 2009 http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/leagu...8-09_Proleague
Yellow IS a top-notch player, the only reason he isnt winning MSLs right now is because he was in ACE, aka half the amount of practice time than everyone else.
You are so retarded, I dont even want to reply. Moon will dominate Nada, we'll see.
Its sad that someone who sucks at both BW and War3, thinks they can comment on either game's skill level rofl whats your iccup rank kid? D+?? I'd be surprised if it was D+ to be honest.
War3 players will no doubt be at the top of SC2 ladders, esp foriegn ladder, I bet the top 5 foriegn SC2 players will be war3 players. Maybe Mondragon can crack that, if he plays serious.
-
Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
FYI: Yellow is retired. Yellow[Arnc] is a currently active Zerg player. They are two different people.
Also, MooN is truly an awesome RTS player. It's really dumb to underestimate him.

Right if you say so. He beats Bisu once and suddenly he's a top notch player. Great logic, that's why he loses to people much inferior to Bisu.

Yeah, rage more, it's funny.

Not worth any time forming up any arguments against you. Rage more please.

Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
First, I'd like to say I'm disappointed in D-Squid. I remember back in the day when you derided every SC1 progamer as being pathetic (due to games against Moon, btw) because they kept trying to use SC1-style strategies in their SC2 play. Now all of a sudden, you're fellating Nada like he spews forth the cure for Cancer or something. Please.
Moon's advantage is that he comes to SC2 with fresher eyes than Nada. SC2 is going to be a different game, with different units, different timings, and different skills. SC1 professionals are going to need some time not just to learn the new things, but to stop doing things the old way. The more familiar you are with how SC1 behaves, the harder it will be to accept how SC2 behaves. If you don't have those preconceived notions, or don't have them as well ingrained, you'll be approaching it as a new game, not a different version of something you know intimately.
However:
Quote:
Moon will DOMINATE Nada hardcore, showing all you bw elitist newbs that War3 is not an "easy" game. I am very confident Moon will be the #1 player in SC2 for the next few years, unless Grubby can take his place.
This is total BS. So long as both players are given reasonable practice time with the build, there will be no domination on either side. Moon's WC3 skills will be of just as much value as Nada's SC1 skills: zilch.
Quote:
I follow the proscene quite often. Didnt Yellow just beat Bisu?? Yellow, the one who sucks.. beating the best P in the world, that even JD has trouble with..
Well, let's see. Yellow performed a nice and well executed StormZerg-style drop into Bisu's main to take a game. That's nice.
Jaedong beat Bisu in a Best of Five. The best PvZ player on the planet, taken down 3-2. When Yellow does that, let me know. Hell, when Yellow actually wins an OSL, let me know.
Who drops what single games against who doesn't mean a damn thing. Oh, it's nice material for imagining your favorite player being in a position to take leagues, but it has no basis in reality. What matters is wining serieses, not an individual stand-alone game. Yellow wasn't doing that before he went to ACE, and he isn't doing that now.
Yellow's best days are behind him. Oh, he was good, in his day. And right now, I'd probably go so far as to say he's doing better overall than Savior (unfortunately, that's not saying much). But for all-time best Zergs, he's only #4 (the God of War, July, taking the #3 spot. Props must be given for a Golden Mouse holder).

lol whatever. im the elitist but your saying all war3 players suck and dont deserve respect? riight. Just as I thought, you hardly even play at a competitive level in SC, let alone knowing shit about War3 competitive play.
Rage is saying all war3 player suck, just because you cant play the game. Rage is bashing one of the most talented players in the world Moon, because you cant even fathom how good he is.
But whatever, like I said, the results will speak for itself soon.

Please stop giving out false information. YellOw is not retired. He's still in the airforce and part of the ACE team. His last proleague game was played four days ago... Also, yes he did play Bisu and won less than a month ago, but that obviously doesn't mean anything. Right now, he definitely isn't anywhere near S-class, but who can blame him? He has neither the time nor the partners to practice as much as the other progamers while he's doing his military service.
As for comparing YellOw, Savior and Jaedong... just throw in July and you've got the top Zergs from four different eras. You can't compare their current state, but YellOw, the Storm Zerg, definitely ears his place as an eternal star-zerg, just like Boxer who sucks now but whom everyone still loves very much and supports.
Anyways, the next game is Nada versus Moon, and whatever you may say, Nada has a serious advantage. Does that mean that Moon is a bad RTS player? No. That means that Nada's carreer in SC brings a lot more to this matchup than Moon's carreer in WC3. Because SC2 IS closer to SC:BW than it is to WC3...
Since everyone seems to love useless analogies: if a UT2004 player were to go up against a CS player and they would match up on Quake3, who do you think would win? All three of these games are FPS, but which game's skills would translate more into Q3 skill?
That being said, if this is really the first time Nada sees SC2 and they don't even let him warm up (and get to know the different units) before they actually play the game, well since Moon has already played the game a bit he might have an edge in their first or second game. However that gap would be filled very quickly if they were to play a series.
I expect Nada to win if he takes this the least bit seriously.
I hate agreeing with DS's silly arguments though ;) They are quite painful... :)

Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
I find it odd that a WCIII player would say zerg fit him/her best.
I would imagine that Protoss would be simpler/easier, since one can use fewer units -- like in WCIII.

I'm just wondering, Sahara, why you joined SC:L? You know we're a lore and casual players site. Shouldn't you be posting your elitist bullshit somewhere more appropriate with "players of your own skill or higher," like TL?
As for why Moon would choose Zerg, its because the Undead use blight and can spam Ghouls, Necro skeletons, and Abominations.

I can tell you now from experience UT2k4 pros will own CS players any day on most counts at least. On Team games, it depends on which team has better teamwork and timing.
SC is a pretty balanced game int terms of micro and macro I'd say 60% micro 40% macro
War3 has a different share of like 80% micro 20% macro
SC2 as it looks like now is looking as a more micro oriented game that its predecessor, given that there are much more micro dynamics.
They are both great players. My money is on Moon though =)

...uh... no. He's just playing a similar but different game with a similar skill component (clicking, micro, and yes, macro are all involved) and decided on which one fits the best. The Protoss really don't feel like any of the WarCraft 3 races. Heck, none of the StarCraft races do.
The advantage Moon will have is the feel of the engine. From a gameplay perspective (i.e. pure gameplay, not the gameplay mechanics) I'm assuming StarCraft 2 is more like WarCraft 3 in that regard (smoother pathing for one thing). And the rest of it is just really pure RTS mechanics, which will make it easy for both players to pick up. I don't know that for sure at all, that's just an inkling.
I don't know enough about their skill to make a guess at who will have the upper hand, though.

Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
Most likely I could be wrong, but I recall a non-StarCraft player who attended majority of the conventions that demo'd StarCraft 2 builds. I think it was MooN, but it could have been a WoW player or another WC3 player.
Anyhow, I recall an article about how that certain pro-SC players (Korean ones methinks) were worried as when they played a friendly MP match, they normally lost. Was that just my imagination or was it someone else? :p

Ermm, maybe I wasn't explicit enough, but concerning UT2k4, Q3 and CS that's exactly what I was inferring (I thought those games spoke for themselves) ;). Maybe you were just confirming that though, not sure^^. Q3 is much closer to UT2K4 than it is to CS. And in the same manner, SC2 is much closer to SC:BW than it is to WC3.
Also, concerning the micro/macro ratios you were giving, there probably way more macro in SC:BW than you suggested. Of course in the middle of a battle there's a lot more micro, but throughout the game macro is dominant (you can look at a pro-replay using BWcharts to somewhat have an idea of the ratios). Hence, imo, the advantage than an SC progamer would have on a WC3 progamer.

I think you try to much to find a similarity between SC2 and WC3. A top progamer in WC3 CAN become the best SC player. Nomatter what you guys think about WC3, the game is very micro intensive. You surely deal with my units in StarCraft, but the new units mechanics of SC2 are nearly a port from WC3. A good WC3 player shouldn't have too much problem to port from WC to SC2, in fact, he could even be closer than a Starcraft 1 player.
And Hammy, you got the real point here, Macro is of course a SC gameplay. But since eveyr single units now have special abilities to increase the necessity of microing, I really think this match can be very tight.
-
Re: RTS masterminds NaDa and Moon to clash in SC2 exhibition game
I think SC players have the disadvantage with all the new features added to SC2. There are a lot of subtle features like smart casting that would throw off someone conditioned to the current style of spell casting. Smart casting is a feature prominent in War3. While it's not to say a SC player can't adapt to this easier system, years of conditioning could make it difficult to adjust to.
The most significant advantage a SC player has is being familiar with the fast pace and macro. War 3 has very little macro, and the pacing is a lot more lenient to control micro. Units don't die in split seconds, and heros with abilities change the course of a game. None of this will be the same in SC2.
-

Is that what constitutes accomplishment to you? And they're called "medals" not "metals". Also just because you're a dumbshit that hasn't heard of NaDa doesn't mean that he isn't incredibly famous, yes, on a boxer level. (he is.)
