I'm going to stay up all night long on this forum waiting for everything to happen.
I'll wait till the more dedicated members like n00bonic or Blazur or whoever start spamming links to youtube with beta videos.
And I'll love the discussion between everything and what people think is imba or not etc.
im hoping ill get in/find a key somehow.
If that is happening, ill probably hop on and play about 20 games of each race, just to familiarize myself with the movement/feel of the game
then Im gonna write down all the costs of early buildings for protoss, and come up with buildorders and matchup specific strategies, then work on timings for each build/matchup
then write down notes such as what buildings wall off properly and how to place them properly. placing buildings to benefit gathering/etc.
see if my current hotkeying is efficient enough or if I have to start changing them to adapt
then mass game with all this knowledge to try and solidify it in my mind
The first thing Ill do is piss my pants.
But rly, since I probably wont get a key, Im just gonna wait to hear from you guys. I do have a few friends with better PCs who signed up for the opt in, so something tells me Ill get to at least play the beta (but if I dont then oh well).
If I somehow get in, the first thing Ill prolly do is overclock my Video Card.
Ill definitely try to take some footage, even if it lags, and share it with y'all... of course, prior to this Ill play a bunch of skirmish matches and such.
I'll download - look at the client on my desktop, and realize I don't have time to play due to all the projects LoA has assigned me :P
could always give the key to someone who would make good use of it Gritten =]
Or rather, if you want some help on those projects, and have a spare key to pay. lol
download the client first XD
No doubt I'll be staying up into the wee hours of the night editing articles & orchestrating SC:L's beta coverage. :3
I'm going to sip some tea, tend to my dislocated shoulder, and watch everyone elses replays.
I'm going to suck it up on the beta ladder. There's only one way to get better!
If I amazingly get a key, I'm going to play sc2 like mad. If I don't, YouTube=love
I sincerely doubt I'll get a key, through any means (contest or opt-in) so I'll most likely be reading, watching, drooling with envy, and trying to get my wife to let me watch "just one more video, plzzzz!"
If, by some Divine Providential Miracle of Awesomness(DPMoA), I -do- get a key, I'll be doing the same thing Skyze is, except I'll be videoing the matches along with my impressions so that those who weren't the recipient of a DPMoA will be able to at least get some enjoyment out of it.
And I'll probably being trying to get my wife to "play just one more match with me, plzzzzz!" ...if she can play too. But since there is no LAN, that might not work. Oh well.
Speaking of making videos...what's the best (free) program these days to do that? It's been ages since I've made a game video.
I would want to see it in writing....
If I get a key I'll play like there's no tomorrow. If I don't, I'll cry in a little corner and continue with my daily activities.
Two scenarios:
-If I get a key: I'll be playing all evening/night and be writing some stuff all day long (while at work, when I can't play)
-If I don't get a key: Lurk lurk lurk... And hoping that a bunch of people will write some serious battle reports ;)
When I get starcraft, I will do the following:
- Install the game
- While installing the game, clean the house spectacularly from top to bottom. When I'm done with the house (which won't be bad, it's kept up) I will spend time with my wife as she will always be happy to see me clean.
-When the install is finished, I will check the thread in this forum with people's names so we can get in communication with each other.
- I'm going to create a custom game quick and go over basic unit abilities and whatnot while recording, upload that video so people can see all the units/abilities and get basic timings. Yes, it will be boring but it will be exactly what some of the stuff people want.
- Consider making a massive FFA game for SClegacy peeps (and maybe other fansites if needbe) and record it. Upload.
- I'm then going to do 5 random games and upload them. (Even if I get 6 pooled.. and lose like a noob)
- I'm then going to go to the beta request lounge and start going over requests one by one and upload the videos in response to each one individually.
- Also see if I can contribute any of my footage to SClegacy if it helps them out at all. I'm willing to assist them if they feel the need to.
My wife already understands that the moment that game drops beta... I have 4 days of no obligations, because she's a gamer too and I've done the same for her when her games come out.
Editor is first thing for me. That is, if it's included with the Beta (crossing my fingers).
I'd really like to see the improvements from WC3's editor, and possibly get a list of potential changes Blizzard's editor team can make to improve the thing.
I'll have to move my computer to the office in town if I plan to play on-line with it.
im going to play since ill have a beta key from blizzcon
then reality sets in, and i'm probably going to be trying to find my cane so i get my old ass out of bed at the nursing home to get to the computer room to play since ill age another 60 years before blizzard releases beta
I'm gonna wait a short time and then watch youtube videos all day (Starcraft 2 beta videos :3)
Create a game against an easy level CPU, cripple its economy as a Terran player, amass an army of marines, and nuke the hell out of them. (this is assuming I obtain a key)
I remember Blizzard saying a few times in their interviews people will be able to share their own beta videos, I wouldn't worry.
I never actually thought of the first strategy I'd use.
Probably build an ass load of Warpgates (like 20 at least). Get a lot of pylons, and BOOM, 20 zealot awaiting my orders, or maybe Ill throw in a few stalkers, we'll see... and I gotta try out the Mothership.
im gonna try a stalker build, and just outmicro my first opponent online. should be fun.
Once I know it is out for sure, I'll probably be annoying Gradius asking him about if any of my entrees to the Art/Wallpaper Contest might win :P... Or maybe I'll sit refreshing my email hoping to see a Blizzard email with my Beta key in it.
It would be awesome if when Beta starts, Blizzard France will start hiring people who applied for their community representative offers D: and I would get the job... two heart attacks in one day D:
Representative
If it's released on 09/09/09 (which it will be) then I'll be likeQuote:
pwnt
Why are you so wound up on that date anyway, NoobonicPluage? Just wondering.Quote:

AI is my concern it probably wont even be included in the beta, if it is it will probably be disabled.
Hope for the later so I can start digging in the MPQ files and find the scripts. :>
Then my goal is to be as good as possible with all races but focus mainly on my favorite race zerg, but I live by the thought that you need to know the other races to be able to beat them. I also need to be good at all races to be able to develope a better AI later on anyway.
why wouldnt the AI be included? Its already finished, as is the single player campaign (they said like 90% done)
all thats left is bnet and balancing and final polishing.
