To each his own. I actually feel pity for all the folks whose present can never equal or surpass their past. Nostagia is a disease. The songwriter William Joel said it quite adequately. "The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems."
Do mind, SC 2 is very good in it's own way (and especially where gameplay is concerned). However, when it comes to the artistic side the only thing that really has any connexion the original StarCraft is the music. The rest, well, it all starts with such basic design choices as colour palette and ends with writing and specific choices in ingame art and design, but the spirit of it all is very different. But all this really merits a discussion of it's own.
