Re: Macro Mechanics Discussion Thread
That's what peasant said.......
I'm worried that if you put 16 supply in a 200/200 building that also powers buildings it's going to be a super vulnerable target. Especially with shit like D8, 250mm cannons and whatnot. The fact that it's an obvious target isn't my problem (see above): it's that there isn't even a slight hp increase when you use this ability. Even knocking it up to 300/300 is a huge improvement.

All that means is that you have to pay alittle more attention to defending it. The pylons being good targets for the enemy is not a bad thing. It adds gameplay depth.
Re: Macro Mechanics Discussion Thread
Pylons are already good targets, what is it about a 16 supply pylon that makes it a bigger target if the enemy can't see it's a 16 supply pylon (gods, sound the alarms, I'm agreeing with Archer on something)?

Their would presumably be visual upgrades just like Calldown Supply has.

Does it, I never really noticed. It shouldn't have though, it'll just make it easier to pick out, and I have to admit that a 16 supply Pylon is not something I want to be picked out.

So defend it. Would you not defend the pylon if its only 8 supply? Youd just let it get destroyed :p
Re: Macro Mechanics Discussion Thread
IF you want it to have the same hp (200/200) AND you can tell the difference (as blizzard is trying out visual upgrades) THEN you have a pylon that is worth twice as much but still is just as vulnerable as it was before the upgrade. Basically, they can snipe one pylon and you lose the equivalent of two. Its not hard to get it folks.
But shall we now focus on talking about the new protoss macro mechanic rather than this horrendous idea that will probably never happen?

I would defend it, but it makes it an easier target if the enemy knows which one it is.

Might as well, but I think that's going on well enough in the other thread.

The only hard part to get is why it bothers you so much to have a building that is an atractive target for the enemy.

Um it already happened. Its on the Terrans Orbital Command. Were just talking about moving it to Protoss.
And Im sure well get to the Protoss mechanics eventual. I want to give people a chance to digest them.

Pylons are important to protoss beyond how supply depots are important to terran. Pylons have an additional 50 hp to cover for this, but this is quite a change for them. If you want to just cut and paste an ability from one race to the next, go for it, but dont expect it to be balanced.
Im done here: this has been blown totally out of proportion and id rather talk about the new macro mechanic.
