Well, I think there are at least two movies deserving this title. These are Terminator 4 and Transformers 2. What do you think?
P.S. To moderators: sorry for possible writing to a wrong category but I didn't find any other category for general chat.

Hmm I think it's fair to add Star Trek to that list even though most of the fanboys disliked it.

I never liked Transformers myself, haven't watched the second yet. The CGI though I will say is very good.
I heard Star trek was extremely good as well, haven't seen it yet.
I haven't watched wolverine either, I heard it wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be.
Terminator was pretty good.
Transformers 2 and Terminator 4 were the worst two movies i saw in the past 5 years.
Fucking terrible
SO HORRIBLE
Terminator 4 had the worst writing ever, the acting was terrible and the director must have been snorting way too much coke
Transformers RoTF was just plain the worst excuse for a movie ever. The first was bearable but this was just terrible.
I can't wacth movies... :(
The best movie is Star Trek, if you're counting from Jan 1 '09. It slaughters the lore, but its a fun action movie with coherent dialog.
T4 slaughtered the lore, and wasn't nearly as cool.
XO:W slaughtered the lore, and the acting was crap.
Trans2 was visually impressive, but way too long and convoluted. And the acting blew.
Hangover was funny, but no one takes comedies seriously (pun).
Potential competitors to Star Trek are UP, Taken, and Watchmen.
OP, did you pick the two worst and dumbest movies of the year to illustrate what we "shouldn't" be talking about?... Well I guess T4 was just like any other movie but transformers2?...
If we're talking about geek movies, I'll definitely go for Star Trek (fanboys bla bla bla... fanboys are never happy anyways, that's because they're fanboys :p). My friends and I were really shocked by how good of a movie it is. Awesome surprise.
When it comes to animations, for now Ice age3 was great (better than monsters versus aliens), but I expect Up to to be even better. It sounds extremely entertaining.
There are some great movies comming up though. Stuff like Public Ennemies, Inglorious Basterds (friend of mine saw it already, it's fantastic apparently), Sherlock Holmes and 2012 (both in november). I expect those four movies to be the best "big budget" movies this year based on what I've seen, but I hope i'll be surprised by something else :p. On a side note I'm also a bit fed up of big hollywood movies. I love some independant films, especially from europe or east asia.
For the time being I'd just go for Star Trek, but that's really because the summer is young :)
Transformers 2: I liked this one... popcorn flick... I didn't go to see acting, chicks or storyline, I went to see big ass robots and explosions... I got that, I'm happy...
Terminator 4: Meh... better than Wolverine...
Wolverine: Meh...
Hangover: Meh...
Borüno: Better than hangover (I like the whole "hidden" camera deal)
With that said... My pick so far is Star Trek.
Well yeah, with transformers you get what you expect. It's definitely a pretty straightforward movie. But you also aren't expecting much when you go to watch that movie, so it's pretty hard to be disapointed. I think that's why it's hard to be objective too, but that doesn't make it a good movie though. (imo! ;))
