I picked blown away and rate it 8.5 out of 10. Although, I didn't really wait for the game, It just "oh there's a SC2 cool" reaction when it got announce. (The terran campaign is great for Terran standard :D )
The Zerg and Protoss expansion surely be much better. (Crap now I have high expectation)
You lucky people who have SC2. I'll be sure to give a good account of singleplayer once I get my hands on it.
Finally actually get the game downloaded, been downloading the download client since yesterday morning, not sure what a guest pass limits you to though.
Another thing which annoyed me now that I think about it is that you never get to know some of your crew very well..
Who the hell is Annabelle?, and Cade?, And Katchinsky?
They are just there saying the same one liners througout the whole game.
Stettman is another underdeveloped character, he only tells you if there are updates on the research.
Tychus, Matt, and Swann are handled muuuch better.
25/26 missions done blown away by the hero mission highlighting a mass hero mission and choice making stuff and cinematic follow ups
Thinking about it, the story wasn't epic awesome, but the problem may be the mindset of the fans - remember SC2 was split into three, all three games tell a larger story. True some of us aren't impressed, but that's like paying the Terran campaign of the original game and going "meh".
When all three parts are released and we can look at the story as a whole across them, it'll probably be much more impressive.
Of course, because it'll be the climax of the overarcing story. This is just Act 1.
I dont know if anyone here is familiar with Half-Life 2, but as you may know they are released in Episodes..Picture this as Episode 1...And lets hope our Episode 3 comes out in two years and not 10...At least there is no Valve time at Blizzard.
That is like the 100th reason.
1-99 are.
CUZ PROTOSS FRIKKIN ROCK BABY YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! !!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
:eek::eek:
if the main campaign is anything like the mini-campaign, just gg now on being mad @ blizzard.
Actually, I found the Protoss mini-campaign to be the weakest part of the campaign. It was essentially a massive (not to mention obvious and poorly scripted) info dump to introduce the overarching prophecy plot so that it doesn't feel like it comes out of left field later on. It didn't really play a major part in the outcome of the Terran campaign. Moreover, it was pretty blatant that they were trying to find ways to introduce the concept of Preservers (again, likely to play a bigger role in LotV and probably HotS) and to have Tassadar, the Overmind and Aiur make cameos.
Really? I found them to be the most engaging, the story was more fast paced, to the point and the missions were practically also telling the story instead of just the pre and post scenes. Preservers were 1 mission, the Aiur return was handled well - it was to the point and no retarded fluff. There was not always a massive enemy base to deal with, it was more about strategically executing the mission, in a way that felt different from the terran campaign.
Obviously it wasn't perfect but i have 0 complaints about it. The story/lore it provided had massive implications.
To each his own however, i expected Blizzard to deliver and they did.
I also enjoyed the Zeratul missions the most.
All I can say is... wow... I'm very impressed with just about everything.. I love all the extra units, I love the decisions they have you make, and I love the missions themselves. Very happy with the variety, and I like being able to talk to my friends while playing single player...
This game is even better than I hoped, and believe me, I had high expectations.
Agreed. Tychus was a pretty big disappointment.
Same with Tricia Helfer as Kerrigan. Like sure she makes a good Cylon babe who's crazy about banging Gaius Baltar...but as Queen of blades? No.
The non pre rendered portions are brutal.
Even the pre-render is kinda bad. Li
Transistions sucked between cinematics and how the story flowed.
I'm assuming everyone has seen the final trailer..where Raynor is pointing a gun at Prince Valerian...well right after that...I just face palmed.
im totally blown away its just amazing they have made a very cool rts with good story very cool personalities and intensity on a whole new level if u play on hard.
and u even got a chill out room in the cantina/pub with jukebox and stuff its just mind blowing and u also hawe the amazing lost viking arcade game.
its pretty much an intense rts slash rpg slash click and explore gamelove it :D
So far...this game is outstanding in every way. I have no complaints.
This morning I was able to get in two missions, the Dig and then Zeratul's level. It was by far the best so far. And I still have like 14 missions to go!!! This game is just blowing my mind. And I've been playing on the hard diffculty...
Me be happy gamer. :D
Some other notables:
Outbreak
Cutthroat
Engine of Destruction (haven't beatin' this one yet, though!)
The mission vs Tosh was absolutely brilliant in tactical setup and plot :D
AND, who doesn't LOVE nukes :D!
The story was outstanding - just finished it last night. If you don't have underwhelming over-expectations, you will enjoy discovering the game from the ground up.
You're blinded by your fanboyism. There is nothing redeeming about SC2's storyline. It's a cliched mess. Instead of being a serious Sci-Fi plot, SC2 is just one giant inside joke. The Lost Viking, the dancing Night Elf, "terrible terrible damage", Diablo, Tauren Marine, cringe worthy one-liners, the news casts, it all points to the fact that Blizzard straight up does not care anymore.
How bleh.
I mean, THAT'S what's got your knickers in a knot?
If you just look at it that way, then it's your loss. I enjoyed every one of those aspects that you discredited. The "serious sci-fi plot" you're talking about is there. Maybe you should try to suspend your "disbelief", I guess? The game is great; there is so much potential in the storyline for the future, and there is so much Terran badass-ism in the campaign that it makes you relate to Terrans as they did in SC Vanilla.
The mystic portions of the campaign were made up for by the Zeratul missions. If you read the DT trilogy, this line of thought is perfect. If you haven't, well, go read it ^_^
at the end it started to look interesting but then I was like meh...12 years waiting for this ;/
