How often do you think Blizzard will release StarCraft II expansions?
Every 18 - 24 months
They won't hit a year.
They started working on single player in 2008, the game was released 2010.
Which means it took them 2 years to do the Terran campaign.
It will probably be the same for the Zerg/Protoss campaign.
HotS = 2012.
LotV = 2014.
HoTS in 2012
LoTV in 2013
I expect the first expansion to take 18 months, and the second expansion to take only 12. I believe d3 will have some effect on the first expansion and the fact that it is the first expansion will make the game come out a little slower.
The second expansion will not have another game competing with it to get done and they will have the experience necessary from the first expansion to really finish it quickly.
So if we compensate for Blizzard Time, every 4 years.

Every year, or 18 months tops. No doubt in my mind ;)
One year seems like a bit too short of a cycle for something as 'big' as an SC2 expansion. I know Frozen Throne and Brood War were both about a year, but it just feels like more work to make an expansion for SC2, because of how much more complex the campaign mechanics are.
That said, 2 years feels a little long, too. I'm guessing it's gonna be somewhere inbetween - 18 months! ^^
I'll stick with 1 year, the sc2 campaign was done in 1 year it took 2 because of bnet

They said a year is the absolute bare minimum.
It all depends on the content of which they will be adding to the expansion packs. If they just add a campaign and a unit for each race, probably 12-16 months we can expect the games. However, if they do major overhaul work to the game engine and add in content that forces the dev team back to the drawing board multiple times (Ex: Battle.net 2.0 and the trilogy split) we can see significant delays. Seeing as to how they have ironed out the foundation for Starcraft 2 itself, I can't really see a dramatic development time on these expos. I certainly cannot see them taking as long as WoW expansions.
But then again, I was one of the optimists that said SC2 would be released in 2008 so my theory is usually way off dead center. =/
We need a 'Soon' option.

The game was delayed for Battle.net. Plus, they had to create so much new art assets. If it took them two years, the new expansions should only take them less than 18 months.Quote:
