Since Beta phase 2, I can't play old replays

Has anyone else had this problem? I can play replays since phase 2, but all the ones made before can't play for some reason. I just downloaded a replay pack and I dragged the replay files to my SC2 icon as I normally do, but I get the error message "unable to load replay." Anyone know what's going on?

This has always been the case. You can only view replays made under the current version.

Well in Phase 1 it would restart SC in a previous version so you could watch the replays but now you can only watch replays from Phase 2.

I was never able to get my replays to work that were from a previous version. Was the only way to get it to work to drag it to the sc2 icon?

Do you have a mac?

All I had to do was double click the replay and it would tell me that it needs to restart SC in a previous version, then it would restart and load the replay up.

No, I don't have a mac. I would always try to open them in starcraft II in the replay section. It would simply tell me that I couldn't run it. I didn't realize you can get different results from the various different ways to start a replay.

Sounds kind of silly... If they want it to be allowed, it should work the same regardless of where its being initiated.

Blizz stated that reps of Phase 1 won't be supported by Phase 2.
And neither of Phases' reps would be supported by the release. It sucks...

I don't really mind but I do agree it sucks with the fact that some pretty cool games that we've seen by current "pro" players will be forever lost in replay format.

Not really, just keep a spare beta phase 1 location.

EDIT: And yea, if you have the phase 2 patch then you cant watch old replays. I have seen a lot of posts from prior to phase 2 starting that this is the case, even by blizzard posters. I dont think they want people to have 5+GB of patch data constantly just to watch old replays.

The last patch before phase 2 shut down also broke compatibility.
