Wait, why do I have to download something more?
Because the game went gold awhile ago so there's surely been changes during the down time and there will surely be changes during phase 2.
Ok, I've seen you guys say it went gold (SC2) but what does it mean? :S

I knew I read it somewhere

I wondered this to before, it basicly means that they are printing out the cd's.
Gold means Gold Version
this is the state of the game after Beta, once a game has gone Gold that means they have begun producing the DVD's with the release version of the game. When someone says a game's gone gold it basically means they are mass producing it for stores now.
This has no relation to Pokemon Gold Version
Also this isn't an "activation", you just have to link it to your battle.net account before or after the install.
If that were the case than any version of the game could be used. You have to authenticate that the game is real and then register it to your account.
What do you mean "any version of the game"?
It'll probably just be like WoW. You install the game and it doesn't ask you for anything at all. But when you start the game you don't have anything besides a log-in prompt. That's when it'll redirect you to the site for you to bind your cd key to an account with which you'll be able to log on to Bnet2.0.
That's when the game'll download the day1 patch (or perhaps even the day1.1 patch... servers and games aren't usually all that stable after launch^^)
