Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
I really think there should be something that just freezes the game for 1-3 seconds just so you won't miss out something because of the lagg or the mouse not being where you want it to be, sometimes it's really in the edge of the game moving your whole starting field.
I think a 1 second (or up to 3 second) "freeze" at the start after the game has started would be enough to make you ready and to position the mouse cursor etc.
What do you think?
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
Na you just need the skillz. Position your mouse at the center of the screen even though you cannot see it become one with the mouse. Then create your harvester in the initial click then the path to the minerals shall be clear. A freeze would make me think the game was broken.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
Hmm...doesn't lag freeze your game already if its bad enough? Blizzard has a good anti-lag system already.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
I wish Blizz would just do it like SC1 and center the mouse on your CC/Nexus/Hatchery at the start of the match so that you can instantly click it without finding where your mouse is.

No I mean at the start of the game, not when someone laggs.
** To give an exmaple, when you play random you sort of press all the 3 buttons for different units because you don't know which team you are.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
If there is lag at the start of your game, it will be really bad lag. Bad enough to freeze it with the new system. If you have a good internet connection, you shouldn't have any lag, unless something happens to Blizzard's servers, or a new patch creates lag.
Anyways if there is lag, just do this:

Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
After the game loads for both players, then there should be a 3 second countdown to the start of game.
Never understood why they do a countdown, then do a load that takes a random amount of time, then instantly start the game. I would like a quick 3 second countdown to the real start of the game after everything is loaded and ready.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
People with slow or incompatible computer parts experience a few second delay in the beginning. Before I changed my soundcard, incompatibilities with Audigy cards made me start the game about 5 seconds late.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
Having a "3, 2, 1, GO!" like start-up is actually a good idea. There's no reason I can think of not to have the initial delay.
Re: Countdown timer (anti startlagg)
Bad internet may also prevent the game from working at start for a few seconds.
