I never was able to get into Naruto. The protagonist doesn't feel cool enough for me and the way they tell the story is worst than DBZ. I mean, it shouldn't take like 9582345 episodes just to get to the big fight with the bad guy. Stop making fillers and get to the point! This was such a big problem with DBZ. Thinking back about it, I can't believe I was so into DBZ back then:o

Anyways, I've only really watched 4 anime: Death note, DBZ, Gundam seed and 00.

When people state what anime they've seen and what they like, are people talking about what's shown on domestic television, or are these statements from general browsing through other means?

I'm not trying to be a geek in saying, "You need to watch it with subtitles and not dub," but the selection shown in say, the US, is normally sparse and may not be the best criteria in defining the anime/manga market. I also know quite a few shows that have been absolutely butchered by the transition through dubs (One Piece comes to mind).

Right now, by the fact that several have said DBZ is the best anime they've seen gives me a few opinions on what may be the problem on the perception of the market. :p

For me its through domestic tv but mostly through browsing the net or word of mouth. As for the dub comment I could care less if it was dubbed or subbed. In some animes I switched back and forth in others I chose one or the other. For Evangelion I saw the entire series in sub but the movie in dub. :D

Man Seed and 00 were terrible, almost as bad GGundam, Seed was a terrible re-imagining of the original, I'd definatly reccomend going back and watching the original series of gundam up to gundam wing.

I liked Seed despite its faults...sure was better than Destiny >.<. As for Gundam 00 I actually liked that one a lot. Didn't they just come out with a new gundam? Gundam Unicorn or something, set in the UC timeline if I remember correctly.

*drools* Gundam Unicorn is epic despite the name, I'm waiting on tenter hooks for the next part

I watched seed but I must admit that it was objectively pretty terrible. They reused the same exact scenes sooooo many time that it got pretty annoying. I don't know, the story somehow managed to make me listen to the entire thing anyways though.

On the other hand, I really liked 00. I liked the fact that they tried to make the story more relevant to current events in the world. They went too much over the top in the 2nd season though.

I tried watching the first Gundams too but they're just too old! I guess I could finish watching Gundam wing though.

Gundam Wing was pretty decent, lots of bishonen boys running around in that one, mech design was cool tho especially in the later episodes.

If you want all the awesomeness of the originals but modern watch the first part of Unicorn.

Ironically, I've never watched Gundam. I just have them in my sigs/avatars b/c I think they look cool. :D

as good a reason as any when it comes to mecha :p

Dispite the reused animation and thousands of flashbacks I managed to somehow enjoy gundam seed. The tragic nature of the final episodes was pretty dam awesome and made it all worth it. I'm a sucker for the not so happy endings :D

I've got a solution for ya on the older gundam series. Blue Ray version of Zeta Gundam is awesome.

I generally avoid dubs like the plague and stick to subs.. If people are basing their opinion of anime on dubs then hell yeah its pretty crappy. (not that all dubs are terrible but yeah most of them are.) The selection of good anime that has been dubbed is very limited. Most of what's brough to america isn't worth the dvd its burnt on.

Even something that is halfway decent (like naruto was for the first few episodes) when its dumbed down and made for kids becomes terrible. I was like, wheres my blood and gore? I'll never forget when I saw gundam seed on cartoon network for the first time they had the gun overpainted with tons of lights and wierd looking tubes so it looked like a toy. It even made a funny noise when it fired. I couldn't stand it.

Yeah the censoring for american tv can get pretty rediculos, I perfer subbed as well since I only have to pay mild attention to them to understand it.

Minato's teleportation technique is awesome in action, and the fact that he tied it in to Kushina's Seal was incredibly cool. I'm really holding my breath, and waiting to see him summon Gamabunta for the scene from the very beginning of the manga, that's taken us 500 chapters to actually find out about.

Did anyone else think that, Madara's comment about the Uzumaki Clan being strong enough to survive having Kyuubi ripped out of them without dying sounds like a little bit of foreshadowing for Naruto later on?

Just read Naruto 501. Pretty terrible really (IMO). I just want to get back to the present. Not really interested in knowing how Naruto was born. Now that I know the 9 tails was actually released (knowing Naruto's mom was the holder was just as WTF out of blue, so it's not like it was all that suspenseful) I don't really care about where it goes from there to the village.

Most likely, what's going to happen is another 10 manga eps of Minato and the village fighting the Fox and then it gets sealed. Although, I am interested in seeing Minato die.

Not really terrible imo but it feels slow, all this flashback sequences take so damn long that you may forget what was the setting before they started, maybe not 10 but I'm willing to bet it will be at least another 3 chapters.
What I really want to know is who the hell was the corpse in the coffin that Kabuto showed Madara :eek:

Same here, same here. I speculate that it's the Sage of the 6 Paths because who else would be worth bringing all this suspense for? Another theory I've heard is that it's "Madara's true body" or some crap.

Nah naruto will never fight the kyuubi it's obvious he's meant to become the new sage of the 6th paths

so he'll reunite the Jyuubi for himself imho, otherwise this flashback is just dumb, it makes the reader feel sad for naruto and that's about it. Honestly i would rather have them waste time explaining a rediculous way to revive minato and kushina (death isnt permanent considering nagato revived people..if he had the chakra jiraiya would be back).

anyway either naruto is gunna go on a murder rampage on madara or he plans on reviving his parents. Of course that's after they kill that blue guy in that effed up sword.

Code Geass was the absolute antithesis to 'good'. It's nigh unwatchable, and the parts that COULD have been good (Characters and details on the side) were introduced and dropped so fast, it had to be deliberate.

The way most Japanese think to do it is to simply take a Samurai, scale it up to 30 meters tall, hand it a honking giant sword, give it a teenage pilot with emotional problems, and set it loose.

Death is permanent. Nagato could revive people ONLY because big friend(that monster, don't know it's name) of Hell Realm was capturing souls that Pain have been beating out of people.

Right now the story is all about how the past is constantly repeating itself, however naruto is suppose to stop this cycle of hatred, blabla, etc. Him big a new sage or w/e would fit in - him taking the jyuubi is a personal opinion i wont be surprised he needs to be inhuman in the end.

I don't know... it's already like he has too many of everything. His non-Sage powers and techniques could use improvement, yeah, let him do that. Sometimes I feel like he has nothing but Sage Mode.

But Sage of the Six Paths? Too far-fetched. And who's going to teach him THAT? He's genius and all but it's freakin Rikudo we're talking about. The beginning, the birth of all ninja stuff.

So, I think it's best if Naruto moved on to fight other characters. Those who would be stronger. Although, this doesn't mean Kyuubi couldn't be pulled out to complete Madara's plan. Naruto will live of course.

Yeah, the Kyuubi fight is pretty much done with, and to be honest it wasn't that impressive. Kyuubi is just a brute force beast. What strategy is there? There's no tricks, no impressive plans, nothing. He just smashes his way through everything.

Guys. You've forgotten that fighting inside someone's body, while pulling out each others chakra and fighting outside is different. And don't forget that without Kushina's help Naruto would probably have lost.

There's nothing stronger thatn Kyuubi. The only way to defeat him in the end is to seal him. Of course there's Jubi, but unless the combination of all beasts gives an unspeakable cocktail of energy Kyuubi is the major part of its force.
