That's like asking why I care about two guys kissing beside me on the bus. I just don't like being bombarded with homosexuality and I do not tolerate it.

Doesn't matter. They are the abnormality, therefore, THEY conform; not the other way around. My actions are normal as based on biology, nature and are above reproach.
A joke in tone and extreme but certainly not context.
A webcomic I read touched upon the subject of "disgusting" sex.

To summarize, all forms of sex, except your own or those that sexually arouse you, is considered disgusting. Why? Because you are nothing more than a chemically stimulated human being. However, considering other forms of "sexual deviancy" as "disgusting" is inherently silly, for even your form of sex, if not held behind closed doors and avoids the kinky, will be considered disgusting too. :D
Ay dont get this thread closed now, take the fight or argument to the PM's.
@Kacaier: Just another example of the problems of today's youth lacking a moral standard. They're confused about so many things and everything has to have a damn gray area. Does not look good for my children. It's no wonder some people have forgotten what it means to be a man and what male characteristics look like.
But, are you trying to tell me that gay sex is normal and not a perversion? Or are you trying to say that all sex is a perversion unless you are attracted to it? Are you kidding me? I think you're a bit lost on what exactly sex is. There is normal sex, there is more hardcore sex, there is kinky sex, and then there's gay sex which goes against normal biology. You can enjoy kinky sex without going against normal biology.
By the way, normal biology is the standard. It's the normal base that humans and animals have had since we became sexual creatures. Sex is meant to be a biological urge to procreate. Gay sex serves no procreation purpose, therefore, you should not be attracted to something you cannot procreate with. It's one thing to have unemotional sex and not want a baby. It's another thing to be attracted to something that you are biologically designed to NOT be attracted to.
*sigh*
Back on topic now please. I'm not going down this road again :D kthxbye
@TargetBlue: How could you possibly think anyone is fighting???????
.
lol wtf was that >.<
You forget though, that we are no longer purely biological creatures. We have become, as Artanis would say, "much more sophisticated." We've created many laws that go against our natural impulses and urges. We cannot have sex when we have become sexually viable anymore (13 to just under 18). We cannot just take a mate when we want to (rape), although there are many instances in the animal kingdom that this is a legitimate tactic. We wear clothing, although we are most likely evolved to be capable of surviving without it. True, while we had clothing when we started become more hairless, humans in tropical areas of Africa, the areas where we evolved, wear as little as a loin cloth or penis sheath.
No one shuns the fact that we no longer have sex to procreate. We are not majority Catholics stating seed may not be wasted. We have condoms and many forms of contraceptives. Is this a good thing? Very. With advent of modern medicine, we've expanded our lifespans far beyond our natural inhibitions. It is because of modern medicine that we are so overpopulated. The third world actually have less children than they did before medicine was given out like candy. But do you advocate we should only have sex to procreate, with no fooling around or casual sex?
If we want to base our society back on biology, then we cannot have technology. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
So, to answer your question about homosexuality. Is it natural? Not in the sense that all human beings should do it. But is it natural for homosexuals who are not attracted to the opposite sex? Quite so. This is true many times in the animal kingdom. Whether it is an aberration or mutation does not matter, as their biology will find it natural, much like certain homosexual animals in the natural world. And again, as an evolved techno-society, we do not base ourselves on the so-called natural order. We are far from natural.
So, be as the Libertarians, and let people do what they wish. If it doesn't harm you, then let it be. :D
Oh...you know..we are only human dear findlay, one can get pretty passionate about something. One strike of a nerve and, I just got poked. Who was that?
To get back on topic...
The real is question is why Gradius generalizes anime. Now it appears he's just as closed-minded to anime now because he seems to be a bit traumatized by stereotypical visions of what an anime is... :p
Did we really just start a discussion on homosexuality...
As for not knowing what masculine traits are, there's more to masculinity than buldging muscles and facial hair, you'd be surprised what defines a man elsewhere in the world wethier it be looks or past experiences.
OK
I know we're supposed to stay on topic and that I'm just asking for trouble, but I just cannot stand this type of thinking, I find it disgusting
Given that you're arguing from a biological point of view there's no such thing as to "what it means to be a man and what male characteristics look like." Agreed there are stereotypical characteristics that point towards masculinity, however from a biological standpoint, they don't matter. Why? Because it's just treats that help you survive and reproduce that are important.
Example: you can say that fleeing form a fight or attacking from the back are not-manly things, however they will help you sruvive, and that's what matters in the long run. What help it does being tall, bulky, and full of facial hair if you get yourself killed in incredibly stupid ways (I suggest you google "Darwin Awards" to know what I mean).
Gay sex is not normal in a biological aspect, but saying that sex can be classified in normal, hardcore, kinky and gay is plain stupid. There's heterosexual sex and homosexual sex and that's it, one has the capability of giving offspring, the other doesn't. Maybe you can say it's a perversion, but it's going to get fixed by nature anyways, no offspring no continuity of the genes, problem solved.
Also I have learned from my experience that is usually the ones that are unsure about the sexual preferences the first ones to attack gay people, dunno why.
Man if you are sure about what you want then what's the problem, gay people will be gay people and they WON'T turn you gay, just live and let live; in the end nature will take it's course and select only the ones fittest for survival.
And to stay a little on-topic.
To say that anime is directly related with homosexuality is just plain retarded.
According to you then half Japan is gay :p
Anyway, Digimon totally sucks compared to Pokemon. When I first saw it, I was like wtf is dis shit? A Pokemon rip off? And that's what stayed in my mind forever (I never gave it a chance, the episodes I watched were way too scary for me).
As for some people suggesting Bleach, seriously, that anime has gone downhill ever since the Bount arc. It's just so bad now. I randomly downloaded one of the latest episodes to watch and I just couldn't stand how bad it was.
I think I'll go rewatch Naruto 1-100 again just to kind of remember how good it used to be and how bad it is now.
That's ridiculous. It would be gay if the actions of the characters defined them as gay.
How is that they're gay if they do not perform any gay actions during the entire show?
There's also anime specifically aimed to the gay market. Standard anime is not.
And why would the characters all look like they consumed steroids their whole life? That's an stereotype and most men don't look like that. Let alone that most anime has main characters on the range of 15 years.
About specially bad anime episodes, they're commonly created when a series is based on a manga that is been made at the same time. Manga is slower, so anime makers create "fill" episodes, that most of the time are bad. I just skip them. I don't watch Naruto, by the way. It's clearly been stretched a lot, and has fill episodes everywhere.
Where did I say they are gay? See. This is what I mean. READ MY POSTS PEOPLE!!!
And, why not have "steroid consumers" if you have the liberty of creating a perfect man? Why chose a weak feminine androgynous male when you could create a 300 dude, Marcus Fenix, Kratos, or whatever else? It shows a problem in Japan and that's what I'm commenting on.
Please read and understand, damnit. This is getting ridiculous.
SO........
On topic - I'm pretty sure that this is the same animation team that did the end of the first Series of Naruto in the Naruto/Sasuke battle, and it's the reason they chose to use them again for one of the super climactic battles in Shippuden. I think that the animation's a hell of a lot cleaner then most of the episodes (like Sakura's face after the big explosion), and it's amazingly fluid, but it falls into a rather extreme stylization through some parts that makes it kinda awkward and admitedly did make me laugh a couple times. There's some of this team's animation in 166 (the episode just prior to this one) that's really well done, and I think that the majority of the work in this episode is pretty well done, though it's not my favorite
(Although, I do vastly prefer the manga - This is just after Chapter 437 if you want to get started there).
NOW-
Not to sideline things again, but I think that the core issue that most people run into is the general features of asian, vs. non-asians. There's facial angles, and overall body type, combined with what each culture finds attractive, etc. I know this video is relating to an entirely different debate in and of itself, that I'd like to avoid here, but it's something to consider.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKTvFhRbBt8
Also - if you're making comparisons between masculine icons in Western vs. Eastern games & media, perhaps you should choose some that more closely relate to each other. Kratos, Marcus Fenix, and Leonidas ("te dude from 300"), making a comaprison to Tidus, and another generic teenage school character aren't really valid. Why don't you look at fair examples, like Gene Starwind from Outlaw Star, Solid Snake from the Metal Gear games, and Bruce Lee, just to name a few really generic ones?
There's no problem with Japan man, it's all understanding that people have different preferences. Not every girl's going to swoon over Mr. Universe Era Arnold Schwarzenegger, or your generic blonde-haired large breasted girl. Different people have different tastes, and that's something that you have to be culturally open towards, and not closed minded about, because it exists EVERYWHERE in EVERY COUNTRY.
EDIT:
It also happens in nature. Super big "manly" features don't always win.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEqsgwyvtqc
X
1) Solid Snake and Metal Gear is meant to appeal to Western gamers and represents a Western character.
2) Bruce Lee is from the olden days which I specifically said was when Japan had less (if at all) of this problem. Bruce Lee is Chinese by the way.
3) Didn't know who Gene Starwind was but he's far from masculine in my opinion just going by picture of him.
Wrong. A man is a man is a man and if a man is a man then he could never be mistaken for a female. Simple. End of story.Quote:
It's all understanding that people have different preferences.
Stop coming back to this subject people. It's not the focus of this topic.
I never said all characters had to be like that. Please read people.Quote:
Not every girl's going to swoon over Mr. Universe Era Arnold Schwarzenegger
The female side is valid but not so much for the male side. If someone doesn't like a "blonde-haired large breasted girl" than I was right in everything I said.Quote:
generic blonde-haired large breasted girl.
No I don't :D This isn't just some cultural difference. It's about weak males and homosexuality being prevelant in anime which keeps me away from the whole thing.Quote:
that's something that you have to be culturally open towards
.
1) Where exactly has it ever been stated that Kojima created Snake to appeal to Western gamers?
2) Fine, Tony Jaa.
3) Really? You're going to judge everything about the character's masculinity based on a single picture? I don't think I really need to debate this point. Watch an episode of Outlaw Star.
Please see the cuttlefish link.
Please define weak.
If you're talking about raw, musculature strength, then I don't really see why, as it doesn't really do anything to improve any sort of story or media format.
If you're talking about strength of character, I'd be willing to submit that the Asian culture focus more on strength and weakness of character as a core concept of storytelling MUCH moreso than the Western culture.
Also - I'd be hard pressed to think of anything prevelantly homosexual in any anime/manga thing that's not obscure, joking, or specifically appealing to that audience, and I believe that I'm far more well versed in this media than you.
X
I just want to point out that, I don't ever want Japan to go back to its past...
I sure as hell can't imagine myself taking a tiny sword and then cutting out my own intestines as a ritual suicide to regain honour lol.
Plus, they did some god awful things to the Chinese in WW2 that they don't even admit to.
But anyway, this topic is getting pretty out of hand, it might be locked soon =(
The homosexual discussion now goes in this thread: http://sclegacy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5364
or else. :P
As I said in my last response to the now-seperated thread. I'm still looking forward to Episode 168, but not as much as chapter 501.
X
yeah bleach has really gone downhill :( and I still think that everything I ever needed to know about Naruto was told in the first 20 episodes. After that its still decent but his character doesn't develop a huge amount. There were for sure some awesome fights up till I think 160 or so.
Oh yeah, there's two different FMA series. The first one sucks terribly imho but the second one is pretty awesome and actually follows the manga story. The first series starts off the same but after episode 25 it spirals down into lameness and nothing makes any sense(especially sloth being a liquid like fast moving creature instead of a huge muscular slow moving invincible dude). FMA: Brotherhood is for sure worth watching.
.
Just as a aside, Tony Jaa is Thai not Japanese
I think they are trying to end naruto it seems like hes trying to rush through shit as fast as he can in manga and is tying up loose ends when he can.
I lold.
I haven't really read this thread, but I just want to point out that that video's ridiculous :p. It's just....
I mean, it's cringe-inducing watching that stuff! I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the author's beliefs, but I think that he/she is going about it the wrong way.
The author just says: "look, anime character's heads are shaped like this - oh look, the two images of caucasian women that I picked to prove my argument (and which I imply are representative of the vast majority if not all of caucasian females) don't fit this particular mold. These female Asian faces, on the other hand, do fit the mold, therefore most anime characters are supposed to be Asian."
Basically, the video, impressive as the editing may be, hardly makes a convincing argument. =/
Tychus, based on your opinion of what you think of as a "man", maybe berserk is more suiting to you?
http://www.nanoda.com/public/wallpap...lpaper-big.jpg
It was a pretty good anime with a "manly" main character that wields a giant sword and he kills shit.
Personally, the ones that I like:
Hajime no Ippo (boxing anime)
Ghost in the Shell
Cowboy Bebop
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Berserk
Akira
Code Geass (main character is kind of a pussy, but its an interesting story)
Death Note
Akagi (anime based on mahjong, only the first half of the series though... second half is a bit silly)
Samurai Champloo was pretty entertaining as well.
That pic looks decent.
lolololololololololololol
You know whats gay? Caring about the physique of men, rather then how this physique effects your standing with the opposite sex. In Japan, women are attracted to a graceful man. I see no problem with men assuming a style that boasts their attractiveness with women. I'd stop projecting my own insecurities on an entire culture if I were you.
fyi different cultures have different perceptions of beauty. Our own western culture used to make men wear powdered wigs. Pretty was used as a denotation for men and handsome for women.
That being said I hate most anime lols.
Gradius warned you to stop this discussion. Better hope he doesn't see it.
I actually thought he was quite ruthless. :D If by "pussy" you mean deceitful, underhanded and manipulating others to fight his battles for him, then I agree. But that made him pretty bad ass in my book.Quote:

Spoilers, highlight (cuz I fail at spoiler boxes).Quote:

Lelouche (or dedouche as I like to call him) was definitely a pussy if you mean he never does anything himself and gets everyone else to do things for him. But he IS a man in the fact that he let his best friend stab him to death in the end of the anime so the world would achieve peace (and this guy is freaken 17).
Holy smokes. That animation is outrageous. Looks like they're smoking something before getting to draw this.
Thank God there is manga.
Pain: MY PAIN IS GREATER THAN YOURS!!!
Tails, after pummeling him into the ground with a freaking ROCK: I bet it is.
Seriously: other bodies were taken out with ONE hit. This looks like Terminator, no! Hulk.
