So tell me - inspire me - what do you guys do out on a Friday or Saturday night?
Dragon is a good movie. Its as close to Pixar quality as Dreamworks gets.
Personally I work on saturdays so I'm in bed by 9 tonight lol.

Careful, Spychi will report you for being a pirate.
me and my friends have a bad habit of turning everything into a drinking game. keeps us vaugly entertained.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
Well, unless it's Brogan's Irish Cream or Fireball whiskey, I'm really not that big on drinking. And even when drinking, I usually like having something else to do. Drunkenness amplifies the fun, c'mon. :p
We were supposed to see a play of Much Ado About Nothing, but apparently the events board was wrong; instead there were a bunch of hippies and a concert of some sort we would have had to pay for - and we didn't have any money; otherwise we probably would have stayed.
... But man, that place was hazy...

seriously, I only report those pirates that deserve it (by that I mean those who mindlessly pirate all games and other stuff) and are under polish juristiction
I go swimming, right now just to loose a bit weight
overall, I don't do anything intersting right now, rarely I go to party, but if I go than I don't wake up for the next 3 days after
maybe it's because I don't have weekdays like lot's of people here
I work 2 morning shifts, 2 afternoon shifts, 2 nightshifts and I have two free days
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
I go to friends houses, hit the movies every so often, maybe play online with friends via console or PC. If there's some sports event we either go to the game ourselves or go to a sports bar of the sorts and watch it there. Maybe a concert with some planning.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
I troll the forums as best I can.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
If I can't really go out and hang out with anyone, then I just play some ol' school games (get an emulator). I tend to watch some random things online, such as weird documentaries. Some reading here and there. And some other things which I can not mention.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
I plan for the zombie apocalypse. You gotta be prepared.
My plan is, simply put, to follow the river near my house, in a canoe, to the marina, then steal one of the rental boats, siphon out all the gas I can, jack the fishing equipment, and sail down to one of the uninhabited Florida Key's where I can fish and hunt baby miniature dear to my heart's content.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
I approve, Roland!
Yeah, my friends and I are training in the survivalist arts. There's really no reasons to depend on the government or military to come rescue you.
I've been trying to get out more often lately, going to events, jogging, working out, climbing over shit and calling it parkour. I've looked into local charities and volunteer services... but I don't have the drive (or transportation) to go out at 7am on a Saturday morning to work for Habitat for Humanity. Though I support the Invisible Children organization, it seems that campaign is coming to a close with recent successes. I need activism in my life. :(
There doesn't seem to be much of a nightlife here... at least one that doesn't require a metric shit-ton worth of money to enjoy.

Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
Well Saturday night is date night for me so out with the g/f. Friday night I typically find whatever I can whether it's just hanging out playing video games or going into the city depends on my mood and what people are doing.

If there's a zombie apocalypse...that stupid oil well will never get plugged. Gulf Fishing as a primary food source might not work out too well. Even way down in the keys. Oil poising might not kill you, but it sure can make you sick. And following World War Z mythos...zombies can walk under water, which makes sense. They don't need air. Islands might not be all that safe. They would, however, be the best option. Easy to fortify and defend.
Aside from the fact that there is no natural source of water...this would be the perfect place to hold up -- Fort Jefferson on Garden Key...one of the Dry Tortuga Islands.

I, too, think about my options with Z scenarios. All are rather grim. :(
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
Personally I work out at the Gym which gets the kiddos to play with their friends. Beside that I play with my kids often. Every two weeks I either go out on a date with my wife or so some odd activity that might involve hanging out with a old friend, go to a campsite, visit family or whatnot.
In my spare personal time I have a choice of working on StarCraft: Legacy projects, which I enjoy very well, work on personal projects, game or simply web-browse. All of which allow me to step away at a moment's notice if I need to take care of the kiddos. It's just kinda nice to see them essentially be self-sufficient.
Re: What Do You Do For Fun?
For me, fun involves a good video game, a good novel or a good movie. I also enjoy swimming, long walks and spending time with my wife, playing with my little dog (Pomeranian) and contemplating the pros and cons of having a kid. My wife and I discuss this subject almost daily.

I think distilling seawater for just a few people to survive off of is much easier than it's made out to be. I would imagine that the rig would be something like a pan of seawater, a sloped piece of plastic or something overhead, and another pan to collect the water. As the sea water evaporates it would hit the plastic ( I say plastic because it can't absorb water) then roll down to the edge (water can stick to something long enough to flow). when it hit's the edge it will fall into the 2nd pan, and there you go , fresh water, plus salt for preserving any meat you may come across. According to the zombie survival guide, your biggest issue on an Island would actually be other humans, like raiders, and hostile survivors. Ability to ward off other people, and evacuate in an instant is probably crucial as a result. I think Max Brooks is exaggerating though, raiders won't use island's too much, the gas to get from mainland to island is a big hit, and sailboats may be too slow to be a very good option.

Agreed on all points. Without some heavy weaponry, it would be hard to hold this fort against attacking humans.
Against Zombies though, you would need only a very light defense...a few heavy caliber machine guns and some high-powered sniper rifles would be adequate. For close quarters, you might want some lobos and magnums...just in case you have to make a fighting retreat.
