The previous system did not work as intended to some degree and based on feedback received the developers decided to implement a variation of this, which is going to attach character codes.
We shoot & we score.

Never back down, give up, or settle for less..
I'm very pleased to see Blizzard has the same way of thinking as well!
:)
Re: Chat confirmed, new identifier system, whiners; pow, right in the kisser
Maybe that's a stupid question, but what was wrong with the previous identifier system? Why prefer random numbers to short strings of letters of your own choosing (that could or could not even mean something, like clan-names)?
Don't get me wrong, the change is awesome compared to the previous version, but I do not understand why they couldn't just have returned to the way things already have been. :S
Re: Chat confirmed, new identifier system, whiners; pow, right in the kisser
YAY hopefully this means well get some other things like cross realm play and better soundwork

You have to understand that there is absolutely no way to have it at release. Your being unfair to blizzard

Probably because they game will have clan support, and 90% of the names were just John.john anyways.
Identifiers are really important for people who play in tournaments, stream, or get e-famous, but the nature of that identifier isn't actually important since you're pretty much the only one who'll know it (besides the people you give your aka to, and they'll have forgotten 10s after that anyways).
I think it was a bit of a failure that so many people put "john.john". When i was trying Bnet functionalities and testing the friend list, the first think I typed was "Mondragon.mondragon", and there he was.
Of course that's the player's own fault, but the fact is: it wasn't "working as intended" (admitedly, because people didn't understand its purpose)
I think it's a decent fix. Good old 10^3 possibilities before you can add and spam someone you weren't supposed to.
Otherwise I'm sure the spam would get unbearable. Remember when TLO kept on pausing a showmatch because some guy was cheating and sending him info from the stream? TLO was being very fair play, but that was some pretty lame spam.
You're right though, I would have prefered to pick my identifier, but whatever, no biggie. It doesn't have to be cool anyways, since the whole point is that it isn't displayed to other people. This is only relevant to the good/efamous players out there anyways.
Re: Chat confirmed, new identifier system, whiners; pow, right in the kisser
Chat channels are here, unique indentifiers are here. Everyone can now shut up. Just pony up the extra 60 bucks if you want to play in other servers. Problems solved.
Re: Chat confirmed, new identifier system, whiners; pow, right in the kisser
Good job guys. This isnt everything we wanted but were slowly moving Blizzard in the right direction.

Thank you for listening to your community and showing that you listen to those who are willing to take a stand to voice their opinion for what they believe is right..
I believe the sc2 community is among one of the most hardcore gaming communities around today because we all share a common goal of making the starcraft universe a better place for all.
To those who say we are "whiners", etc. may they remember
(and never forget) that when "we the people" are willing to rise up unified for the sake of progression and freedom for the benefit of mankind, we attribute towards a better existence.
Thanks again blizzard!
