Why did Blizzard fail with bnet 2.0?

Bnet 2.0 hasn't even had a chance to just outright fail . . . . . . at least, not yet. If Blizzard doesn't communicate with us and clear some things up, then it will indeed fail. However, we're not there just yet. We're still in beta. Battle.net 2.0 is still in its infant stages. Just wait for phase 2 and Blizzard's official response to our concerns. Until then, listen to this bitchin' remix:Hidden Content:
Not sure if I'd go so far to say it has failed. But I would like to take this opportunity to say how very much I hate Bobby Kotick.
That is all.
I second that
they failed with the battle.net not the rest I think and hope
they failed because they didn't listen when they could, they failed because the battle.net team was isolated, they failed because some people might have pulled few strings for one reason: money
Where's the option to say they've yet to fail?
oh and yet they have time to fix all this
The game isn't out yet. They have yet to fail.
Stupid poll is stupid
/thread
Ohh how you people makes my day, It is raining and a shitty day in Copenhagen to day. But this stuff just makes me laugh :D
The hate on Activision and Bobby Kottick, will become the stuff of legends.
I think it is hilarious and a bit sweet, how you seam to think, that blizzard is some magic company that only thinks of the fans!
Blizzard is a company! It was good business to listen to the fans, when they were a small company, and it was a smart business move to merge with Activision.
What you see know is the natural development of a company going global, you may not like, but that's how it is. In business you need to look at the many not the few, and yes we are the few.
That said, I still think they listen extremely much to their users and fans, compared to their size and competition.
not at all, if you think Blizzard will fix all they did wrong in 3 weeks, than they wont fail.
And if you think this is huge with bnet 2.0 stupidity they did, wait until they have more time to rework some of us into vivid supporters.
Bobby has got us right in his hand and is probably on a 10 million dollars vacation right now with all our money without delivering quality.
But just wait and see, we'll ask bobby in 2011 if his vacation will be of 20 million dollars or 2000 dollars.
I don't think they've failed at all. Could bnet 2.0 be improved? yes. Is it still in most ways a vast improvement over bnet 1? yes.
LAN is the only issues I think people have the right to complain about (as far as actually making a difference).
Retarded polls..... Retarded polls everywhere.
as much as I agree with you at some degree, there are numerous of threads that we already made that bitch and complain in either rage tone or polite tone
both works, but with SC:L staff writing that article I think that we reached the critical point when we should say "stop, we got their attention with proper tools (no offence Gifted or LoA)
I think that rage is needed still as the game isn't out and they might say "screw them, you buyed the game now suffer we won't add things you want"
right now I am waiting for their steps, if they won't add the features most of us want I am starting my own crusade
so I guess you like being raped in the ass and pay for it?...nice
think with your pocket not like others
I actually think this poll is alright. I'm interested in seeing how many really think this is because of Kotick/Greed (basically the same thing).
Just how ignorant has the StarCraft fanbase become?
I'll let discussion and voting proceed for now, but if it derails, it'll be locked fast.
I also want to emphasize this:
Not gonna add the option, but I edited the topic title a bit.
But it's pointless. They have yet to fail. Maybe when Blizzard actually failed then this poll would make sense.
when they will, then it will be to late to sound the alarm
oh and it's a good thing I found this image
http://grrr.pl/images//2010/06/fanboy2.jpg
Added two more options then.
- I don't think Blizzard failed
- I want to wait and see before I determine if they failed or not
@spychi, we rather that you report people, instead of acting like neurons. =)
For the record, I misclicked, instead of seeing my name beside "I don't think Blizzard failed" It should be "Communication". Sorry about the confusion there.
Mod edit: Fixed the numbers, by editing the poll. Name can't be moved though ~Dauntless =)
I think that the problems with Bnet2.0 is because they don't have enough time to implement it.
Or they could just be greedy.
Just as I have waited for the poll to have better options, I want to wait AT LEAST till phase 2 of beta to see if anything at all changes. I want my final judgment, however, to be reserved for the release of the game and its first few months.
Tellin' it like it is. Oh the sheer IRONY in Bashiok's posts . . .Hidden Content:And they can't seem to make up their minds between making one large address for the sake of clarity and splitting it all up for better discussion!Hidden Content:Hidden Content:
I'm sorry . . . I just had to get that off my chest . . . X(
Well if the boy is good enough looking I just might ;)
But more to the point.
I think you need to wake up see how the world works, With or without Activision I can't see blizzards taking a dramatic differently approach.
Actually I will so far as to say, that without the bankroll and Market shares of Activision we would not see such a productive blizzard!
Furthermore I think that these kind of threads/polls, are more destructive than constructive, and I'm sick and tired of it.
But maybe that's what the forum wants, I don't know any more.
Noob ive been listening to the TF2 remix all morning.
When are we, as fellow gamers, going to stand up against this dark cloud of corporate tyranny which is slowly creeping over our community and resist it?
Why don't we start a signatory list calling for the resignation of Bobby Kottick, boycotting all activision products until our demands are met!
I think it's quite pathetic how disorganized we are as a society if we cannot quash such a worm for the benefit of mankind..

Bashiok may be telling the truth, they probably keep him in the dark.. its better that way.
They know exactly what they are doing.. they're buying time until the game is released,
once people have purchased the game and spent their money on the product
they(activision) could care less about cross regional play, clans, ladders, etc.. thats a community feature.
"I want to wait and see before I determine if they failed or not" 31.58% <---- Y'all have been dooped!
This thread is really stupid :/.
I voted "communications".
have fun with that.Quote:

I'm curious do you even know what a CEO does? Even if Bobby wanted to, he couldn't exert the level of influence that would be required for to be the cause of these failures
Is there an option that says, "Revolutionizing does have its casualties"?
newcomplex do you want the vanilla definition or do you want to hear that I think CEO's should be held accountable for their companies actions?
You are a consumer, just like myself.. no better.
I think you're missing the bigger picture.. this is about more than just a single video game, they're playing a massive game w/ u$ and right now.. they're winning.
I think they're(activision) wagering that people will be willing to buy the game regardless of online infrastructure (IE: cross regional play) because we are fanboys and grew up playing SC and will be able to shell out $60 maybe even $100 a piece.. you do the math.
Hidden Content:
We're not talking about the bigger picture. This specific line of discussion is "Is activision/kotick directly responsible for the omission of Chat Channels and Cross region play in Starcraft 2."Quote:

The answer is no. CEOs don't handle decisions like that in regards to an independent subsidiary.
Perhaps if this thread title was "Why are you not buying Starcraft2", then Activision could be a legit answer. You don't want to support their management models. k. But that isn't even what we're talking about.
I disagree.
They must be held accountable..
When Blizzard need X amount of $ to design, build, and support cross regional play, voice chat, clans, spam control, etc. ACTIVISION IS RESPONSIBLE. They're the one's writing out the paychecks.. bottomline.
You seem to have more sympathy for this wurm than I.
I'm not claiming that Blizzard holds more authority then Activision. I'm saying that CEOs do not do what you think they do. They are not PRODUCERS. A CEO does not direct specific decisions like the inclusion of Chat Channels or cross region play. They only direct direction.
Stop scapegoating Kotick. There are real issues inside Irvine HQ that allowed for this to occur, and your misaddressing them in favor of a convenient and completely laughable redirection of blame to Kotick.
It is still up to the producers and executives of Blizzard to coordinate individual features, including the design of b-net 2,0, and its failings. There is zero chance Kotick said "Don't give fans chat channels". I don't even think he knows what they are in relation to Starcraft.
