Re: Why did Blizzard fail (so far) with Bnet 2.0?
When are we, as fellow gamers, going to stand up against this dark cloud of corporate tyranny which is slowly creeping over our community and resist it?
Why don't we start a signatory list calling for the resignation of Bobby Kottick, boycotting all activision products until our demands are met!
I think it's quite pathetic how disorganized we are as a society if we cannot quash such a worm for the benefit of mankind..
Bashiok may be telling the truth, they probably keep him in the dark.. its better that way.
They know exactly what they are doing.. they're buying time until the game is released,
once people have purchased the game and spent their money on the product
they(activision) could care less about cross regional play, clans, ladders, etc.. thats a community feature.
"I want to wait and see before I determine if they failed or not" 31.58% <---- Y'all have been dooped!
Re: Why did Blizzard fail (so far) with Bnet 2.0?
This thread is really stupid :/.
I voted "communications".

have fun with that.
I'm curious do you even know what a CEO does? Even if Bobby wanted to, he couldn't exert the level of influence that would be required for to be the cause of these failures
Re: Why did Blizzard fail (so far) with Bnet 2.0?
Is there an option that says, "Revolutionizing does have its casualties"?

That would be "I don't think blizzard failed".
And what exactly did blizzard revolutionize lol.
Re: Why did Blizzard fail (so far) with Bnet 2.0?
newcomplex do you want the vanilla definition or do you want to hear that I think CEO's should be held accountable for their companies actions?
You are a consumer, just like myself.. no better.
I think you're missing the bigger picture.. this is about more than just a single video game, they're playing a massive game w/ u$ and right now.. they're winning.
I think they're(activision) wagering that people will be willing to buy the game regardless of online infrastructure (IE: cross regional play) because we are fanboys and grew up playing SC and will be able to shell out $60 maybe even $100 a piece.. you do the math.

We're not talking about the bigger picture. This specific line of discussion is "Is activision/kotick directly responsible for the omission of Chat Channels and Cross region play in Starcraft 2."
The answer is no. CEOs don't handle decisions like that in regards to an independent subsidiary.
Perhaps if this thread title was "Why are you not buying Starcraft2", then Activision could be a legit answer. You don't want to support their management models. k. But that isn't even what we're talking about.

So now are you positing that Chat channels were omitted because blizzard ran out of money?
lol.
Wait. But I thought the previous argument you guys had was "BUT CHAT CHANNELS R RLY EASY TO IMPLEMENT AND LIEK A SINGLE PROGRAMMER CAN DO IT IN A COUPLE DAYS".

I disagree.
They must be held accountable..
When Blizzard need X amount of $ to design, build, and support cross regional play, voice chat, clans, spam control, etc. ACTIVISION IS RESPONSIBLE. They're the one's writing out the paychecks.. bottomline.
You seem to have more sympathy for this wurm than I.

I'm not claiming that Blizzard holds more authority then Activision. I'm saying that CEOs do not do what you think they do. They are not PRODUCERS. A CEO does not direct specific decisions like the inclusion of Chat Channels or cross region play. They only direct direction.
Stop scapegoating Kotick. There are real issues inside Irvine HQ that allowed for this to occur, and your misaddressing them in favor of a convenient and completely laughable redirection of blame to Kotick.
It is still up to the producers and executives of Blizzard to coordinate individual features, including the design of b-net 2,0, and its failings. There is zero chance Kotick said "Don't give fans chat channels". I don't even think he knows what they are in relation to Starcraft.
