Agreed. Those who choose random are pretty gutsy people and make do with whatever race they get.

Protoss have so many "cheese" strats because they lack cheap, effective, early raiding options. Its not really cheese, its a limit of the race.
Terran can build Reapers and Vikings quickly and put pressure on early forcing the Protoss on the defensive. Zerg have Burrow-move Roaches and Mutalisks.
But when a Protoss player builds a proxy pylon and gates its somehow cheese? Or he builds Void Rays and get babies crying more cheese? Our "equivalent" raiding options are Colossi and Phoenix. One is extremely expensive and the other can't even hit buildings.
What you call cheese is nothing more than Protoss making the best of the fact their units just cost more.

For Terran, the turtling factor. I think it attracts people that are a bit more methodical than normal. The kind that have lots patience and organization.
1. They have to place their buildings just right.
2. They have to position tanks just right. Siege/Unsiege with timing.
As a diehard Terran player I believe, you sir, are correct.
I like to turtle, I admit it. And I like the extra micro of Tanks and such. But I also really enjoy zipping around the map with Banshees and Ghosts and striking unseen. Fun fun stuff. Its easier to do that when you turtle...just a bit.
And one thing you forgot to mention for Terran is building mobility.

i don't like randomers...they are usually the type of people who pick it so they can get zerg and ling rush their opponent hoping that their opponent's scouting worker picks the wrong starting positions to scout and finds out what they are at the latest possible time.

eh...?
i don't want to accuse your logic but this statement puts the random playing player at a 66% chance to get another race than zerg...
i don't think it would be a viable way to gain wins if most random players only wanted to play zerg to begin with...

Lol, actaully I rarely do the "cheesier" strategies when I go random. Only when I go for a certian team so I know before what to do. Or else your randomstrategy will just be easily countered and there you are left without macro. I usually instead try to scout a bit more and get a counterbuild.
Re: Do you think players tha play certain races share common traits?
I think there are some personality overlaps in players that play the same race. I am a Terran turtler. Sahara's description thereof fits me almost to a T with one notable exception: I love a good challenge and will sometimes take an additional risk to initiate the challenge.
I feel we can almost split Protoss players into two groups: First, artistic, aesthetic lovers as Sahara said, which describes them all. The split is almost like the dark/light split. Many are very cordial and polite, exemplifying the nobility of the race. Others seem rude and/or narcissistic, but may not be, as it's hard for me to pick up sarcasm a lot. This dark group would be less dark templar and more Judicator in peronality: a zealous superiority complex, at least in seeming. I think his comments were meant sarcasticly, but Judicator Gradius is acting this part rather well (lol).
Zerg seem to be the rebellious types yes, but also tend toward pure aggression more so than a toss or terran because their macro is so easy now it almost doesn't exist. Some of the best players are much more strategic than their SC racial counterpats, I must say. Zerg have more speedy harass units than the others, lending to the aggression theory.
Anywho, that's my opinion. :)

When I say cheese, I don't say it in a negative way. Its just that there's no word for "High risk, high payoff strats".
You are right, the price point of protoss units puts them in this position. With the cost per unit, protoss players make more "gambles" with "cheese".
Im a Protoss player BTW.
Re: Do you think players tha play certain races share common traits?
I think the StarCraft definition of cheese needs to be clearly understood: Cheese isn't anything that beats you. Cheese is a strategy who's only key to victory is the opponent having no idea it's happening. When you put your strategy into the "luck" category, hoping "Man, I hope they don't scout this, if they do, I should just GG, if they don't I insta-win..", you are cheesing. Keep in mind, it doesnt mean if your opponent never scouts and loses because of that, you are cheesing. It is reserved for early game, when scouting large areas of the map is nearly impossible. Proxy Pylons and 6 pooling are the quintessential definition of this. Making Void Rays in the middle of the game, and the opponent not scouting it? Not cheese.
Now, carry on.
