Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Good read, silencbank.
My only question/complaint is how do you account for upgraded hydras that are able to shoot much much faster to kill chargelots while roaches tank most of the damage?
You really need storm against them because you can mass more hydras from a 2 base zerg than you can mass zealots from a 1 base Protoss. And even when you do get your natural, zerg already has his 3rd, and unless you can do econ damage somehow, his hydra/roach will overrun you Chargelot/Archon army and while the battle happens, and your HT are warping in, he will have a lot more hydras at our door and you will not have enough zealot/HT to deal with it.
What is your solution?
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Sentries seem reasonable.
Dur.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
No, Demo... Sentries are really hard to get when you're doing a templar-centric composition with zealots. And sentries suck ass vs roach/hydra. GS does not protect your army vs hydras as the hydra shoot too fast and thus deal damage waaay too fast for the +2 armor to be effective.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Maybe I should have been more specific with "Hallucination."
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Ok, can you be more specific as to how you would get sentry hallucination (at what point in time in your build), and your transition into temp tech as well as what unit composition (including hallucinated units) you are aiming for?
I'm curious, because I always forget that spell sentries have lol.

Hallucination is what, 100/100? Early on, when you're building mostly Zealots, that gas is easy to come by. I'd say you should start upgrading it once you have about 3 Sentries already out, and after Warp-Gate.
Hallucination is used for 3 things: extra HP to tank, scouting, and tech trickery. The main purpose you'll want in ZvP is tanking. The hallucinated units with the most HP, who can reliably get up close to take that damage, are Zealots and Immortals.

Archons don't splash they just attack multiple enemies is a cone like angle...but I'd consider that splash >.<
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Blasterion, it is officially splash damage, per Blizzard. But, the range of splash is so small that it is almost insignificant.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Well for one thing, you probably should not be just trying to one base against zerg. If they expand why dont you give it a try too? But back to your question. Chargelots and even zealots in general do not do horribly against a Roach straight up. They both do 16 damage to the other unit with the only different damage modifiers are ranged and armor. And Hydralisks are even more fun to own with Chargelots. So what if the Hydra has 0.75 attack speed, the zealot is not far behind with the 1.2. The Hydras biggest advantage is their long range but they lack fast speed to run away. If the zerg player tries to run away while not on creep...they just lost their army because of the constant zealots and Archons coming up to destroy them.
I just used the zealot HT as an example, there are lots of games that I have seen where they started out completely different and still ended up in the same situations at the end. There is no 100% always to work way to get there, cuz you never know what the opponent is going to do. So you can warp in sentries or you could warp in some more HTs, whichever works for you works well enough.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Lore dictates that Ulrezaj is sucking up all the dark archon energies!
IM TELLING YOU!!!

And that's why DTs out of the blue learned to merge into Light Archons. Ver good Blizzard, really top-notch.

Yeah, there are 3 fractions, the biggest for area has radius of almost 1 and it has the least damage which is about 1/3 or 1/4 of damage.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Mmm, DT rush into archon/zealot push sounds interesting... Remains to see who can pull it off in PvZ :)
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
White-ra did something similar against a protoss. Which leads me to believe that White-ra is the reason that protoss players get nerfed.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Poor guy :P
It really sucks to be talented, isn't it :D?
He is really amazing, and it is a good thing that he isn't the only good Protoss player out there. Unlike BW where Protoss players are rarer at the top of the leagues, this new wave of SC2 Pros looks promising; the fact that SC2 actually puts EVERYONE (Koreans included) at the same starting point makes for a promising future for International E-sports.
That's one really good thing Blizzard did with SC2 - The game (:D)
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
Archons are for when you have a low hp DT 10hp almost dead and a low hp high templar 10 hp, merge = make them useful.
Re: Two Dark Templars kicks the ass of an Archon.
that high templar can still storm. the dark templar can be a suicidal scout.

Low HP templars are not useless, as long as they have high energy. Ofc, if the HT has both low HP and low energy, it is useless, and warrants merging.
