Here's a thought (one of the few aimed at fixing the unit). What if you only had the long wait time and uber cost once, and after it was destroyed the cost and time to rebuild one would be greatly reduced. How can you argue that the few decent abilities it does have, combined with a few tweaks, combined with the ease of rebuilding a fleet wouldn't make the unit more useful. This doesn't even entail a massive overhaul, just make the unit as durable as the lore makes it out to be and I would not be upset to see it stay in the battle consistently once you had paid the costs to bring it there in the first place.

The MS is an air unit. Reducing size would be a purely aesthetic issue....

Making it smaller, though...hmmm. Not sure that will fix it.
It would be a "start." Rather take things slowly than change it every week and then see what fits :)

In any case, it's not because a unit isn't used 99.9% of the time by top 1v1 players that the unit is useless. There's not just professional 1v1 in SC2 multiplayer. There's 2v2,3v3,4v4, ffa. I have used motherships in a lot of different occasions in those types of games so saying that the unit is wothless is not quite right for me.

Honestly, I consider the Mothership the Protoss version of the Reaper. They're both just limited right now.

Unfortunately, it's so damn slow, that it will slow down all the rest of your army. By the time it moves her fat ass there, you could already had moved your army several times by conventional means.

TBh though, there's nothing stopping people from doing this in the editor and testing the theories themselves (Besides the fact the Beta servers are down right now).
If you guys think scaling down the Mothership helps, why not just go do it and try? The editor is still available. I guess the only issue right now is waiting for the second phase to come back.

Ignoring the Bill O'Reilly Factor show styled arguments on this, I think a burst of speed energy based spell for the mothership is needed.
Unless the horrible speed is intentional and they never designed it as a unit to go beyond your base/expansions ...

Alright, what if you could accelerate the mothership by casting chronoboost on it? That said, I'm not sure that simply making it faster would make me want to use it.
